Difference between Huawei Mobile WiFi Pro 2 and WiFi Pro E5771

Huawei Released the Huawei Mobile WiFi Pro 2 with LTE-A support recently to replace the current well-known Huawei Mobile WiFi Pro E5770, which support on LTE cat.4. Actually, Huawei also presented a similar model to Mobile WiFi Pro E5770 in Chinese market, the model number is Huawei E5771 and it’s also named Mobile WiFi Pro. In this article, we will have a look at what’s the difference between Huawei Mobile WiFi Pro 2 and Huawei E5771 Mobile WiFi Pro.

Appearance

The new Huawei Mobile WiFi Pro 2 has a small LED screen which to show the connection status, but Huawei E5771 WiFi Pro has only the power button and huawei logo on the front. They are both supplied with a short tap, which can hold the device and can also be used as USB cable for battery charge and data connection to PC. On the back, there Huawei Mobile WiFi Pro 2 shows the battery capacity to 6400mAh while the Huawei E5771 shows the battery of 9600mAh, which is amazing for long time working and charging other devices.

With the large battery, the Huawei E5771 and Mobile WiFi Pro 2 are not thin, the thickness provides the possibility to set the USB port and Ethernet port at the body side. Huawei E5771 WiFi Pro has on output USB and input USB port at side while the Mobile WiFi Pro 2 has extra Ethernet port besides two USB ports. Unlike Huawei E5771, Huawei Mobile WiFi Pro 2 has the power button and WPS button at the each side of the interfaces.

However, we didn’t find the ports for external antennas, which are available in many other Huawei E5 mobile hotspots.

Technical Specifications

As the latest Huawei Mobile WiFi, Mobile WiFi Pro 2 could support the latest LTE-A networks with LTE Cat.6 chipset to provide possible download speed to 300Mbps and upload speed to 50mbps. The Huawei E5771 WiFi Pro could support LTE Cat4 providing download speed to 150Mbps, which is only half of the speed from Mobile WiFi Pro 2. They both support 4G LTE TDD-LTE/FDD-LTE networks with backward of 3G & 2G networks.

As we know, the Huawei E5771 has many sub-models for different network providers and markets. There are Huawei E5771s-852, E5771s-856 and Huawei E5771h-937. We suppose the Huawei Mobile WiFi Pro 2 would also have many variant models, the specific model would be known when they are presented to the market.

As a mobile pocket WiFi, Huawei E5771 could support up to 10 wireless devices to access internet simultaneously while the Huawei Mobile WiFi Pro 2 can provide internet access for up to 32 users. And the RJ45 LAN port provides one more option for users get connected with internet.

The most attracting feature of the two Mobile WiFis should be working as the mobile power bank to charge other electric devices such as smartphones, Pads, Game terminals etc. The large battery of Huawei E5771 Mobile WiFi Pro shows its advantage on this point. It can only keep itself working long time, but also charge other devices for many times.

The WLAN standards of Huawei Mobile WiFi Pro 2 are IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac with dual-band while Huawei E5771 provides WLAN on 802.11b/g/n, missing ac and single band on 2.4GHz.

Management

As the standard offer for Huawei devices, Huawei Mobile WiFi app is available for users to do simple setup of the two mobile routers and if you need the advanced setting, you’d better enter into the web interface 192.168.x.1 from a browser.

In our opinion, the Huawei Mobile WiFi Pro 2 looks cool in appearance, and with the advanced features for LTE networks, it’s really useful for users, but Huawei E5771 WiFi Pro’s large battery and decent function, which is also enough for most users. Actually, Huawei E5771 is a budget mobile WiFi hotspot comparing with Huawei Mobile WiFi Hotspots.

Difference between Netgear Aircard 810s/790s and Huawei E5787

As Huawei’s first 4G mobile hotspot with touch screen, Huawei E5787 had attracts customers’ eyes when it’s presented to public. Now the Huawei E5787 had already been available for many network providers in Middle East areas. However, if you had used Netgear 4G Aircards such as Netgear Aircards 790s or 810s, you may the touch screen feature on a LTE mobile hotspot is not a new feature.

On the screen point, Huawei is following the Netgear’s steps. With the touch screen and easy operation, Netgear Aircard 4G hotspots had gained good reputation from many customers. Here comes the questions: what’s the difference between Huawei E5787 and Netgear 4G Aircard(790s & 810s)? In this article, we will have a look at the difference between them.

Appearance

The three 4G mobile hotspots are all in rectangle shape and have a 2.4 inch touch screen on the middle of the front. As we mentioned before, user can operate the device throigh the touch screen. Users can do simple setup without having to log in the web management page. This is also the selling point for them.

The Netgear 810s and 790s have a “home” and “back” button at the right side of the screen while the Huawei E5787 doesn’t have such button. They all have two connectors for external LTE antenna, which is important if the device is used at places with weak signal. The connector type is TS-9. The external LTE antenna can improve the network speed.

Technical Specifications

Huawei E5787 uses Huawei own Hisilicon LTE cat.6 chipset. The Netgear Aircards 790s and 810s both use Qualcomm LTE chipset like the predecessors, but they use different chipset model, Aircard 790s is based on Qualcomm MDM9230 and Aircard 810s is on Qualcomm Snapdragon X12 LTE modem.

With LTE cat.6 chipset platform, Huawei E5787 and Netgear 790s are same level products; both could support peak download speed up to 300Mbps and upload speed to 50Mbps on LTE network. Netgear aircard 810s is on a higher level to LTE cat11 and supporting downlink to 600Mbps, which is almost double of the speed from the E5787 and 790s. And aircard 810s is more advanced with support of 3 band carrier aggregation(CA) while the other two only support dual-band CA.

Perhaps Netgear 810s is targeted on top terminals, the 2G GSM network is not supported and only 3G UMTS/DC-HSPA+ is backward compatible. Both Netgear 790s and Huawei E5787 can switch to 3G UMTS/DC-HSPA+ or 2G GSM/GPRS network when LTE network is not available. Regarding the supported 4G LTE/3G/2G network frequency bands, it depends on the specific model.

The Aircard 810s and Huawei E5787 both support latest WLAN standards ac, but Aircard 790s missed the ac. But they are all with 2 x 2 MIMO technology. The Netgear Aircard 790s and 810S could both support up to 15 wireless devices to access internet while Huawei E5787 only support 10 users.

Battery and SIM card

Unlike Huawei E5786, the Netgear Aircard 790s & 810s and Huawei E5787 are with removable battery. The Netgear 790s and 810s both have the battery of same capacity to 2930mAh; Huawei E5787 has larger battery to 3000mAh. The two Netgear Aircards has the SIM slot for Micro SIM while the Huawei E5787 uses Mini SIM.

Regarding the performance of the network connection, we will do the test later and show full report accordingly.

Huawei Mobile WiFi Pro 2 Released

Huawei had released a new 4G LTE Mobile WiFi a few days ago in Suadi Arabia, named Mobile WiFi Pro 2, which is to replace the current Mobile WiFi Pro E5770 on the market. As a 4G pocket router with practical functions, Huawei Mobile WiFi Pro 2 comes too later than that we expected.

Like its predecessor Huawei E5770, the Huawei Mobile WiFi Pro 2 combines the pocket router and power bank function into one device. It can not only provide wireless network through WiFi & Ethernet cable for high-speed internet connection, but also charge other electrical devices.

Appearance

Huawei Mobile WiFi Pro 2 upper surface features a high-definition OLED screen with a 0.96 inch diameter. And it is decorated with artistic patterns and a unique contrast in the used materials, while maintaining a user-friendly operating button. The Mobile WiFi Pro 2 uses a metal frame in the middle and also provides a stylish leather handle that caters to the tastes of users and provides the port for charging smart devices and for Ethernet cable. There is also Micro-SIM card slot and extra slot for Micro SD card of up to 32GB.

LTE Advanced (Cat.6) Support

With Huawei Hisilicon LTE Cat6 chipset, Huawei Mobile WiFi Pro 2 could support LTE-Advanced networks on LTE Category 6, which means it could achieve peak download speed to 300mbps and upload speed to 50Mbps on LTE networks. The speeds are almost double of that of the first generation Huawei Mobile WiFi E5770 on LTE Cat.4 networks. Of course, they are both backward with 3G UMTS/DC-HSPA+ and 2G GSM, which would be available once LTE network is missed.

WLAN Improvement

Huawei also improved the wireless function for Mobile WiFi pro 2 to support maximum up to 32 WiFi-enabled devices, while the Huawei E5770 Mobile WiFi Pro supports only 11 users simultaneously. The WLAN features 802.11a/b/g/n/ac on dual-band 2.4GHz and 5GHz, but the Huawei E5770 had missed the ac standard and had only single band WiFi.

Large Battery Capacity of 6400mAh

The battery of Huawei Mobile WiFi Pro 2 is 6400mAh, it’s totally a common mobile power bank which can not only keep itself working for long time and also charge other terminals such as smartphones, Pads in case of power off. However, the capacity of 6400mAh may not be the best, because we know Huawei also had one Mobile WiFi named Huawei E5771 Mobile WiFi Plus, which has the large battery to 9600mAh. And other features are very similar to E5770.

Easy Connection without password

By using Huawei Mobile WiFi Pro 2, a connection can be established and devices can be identified using NFC technology or QR code and Huawei’s application HiLink without the need to search for the network and enter password to join the Wi-Fi network.

Here now, the Huawei Mobile WiFi Pro 2 is not yet available on the market, but we are keen to get this new 4G pocket router. We will show the test report once we get it. You can also keep close eye on www.4gltemall.com to get new information about Huawei Mobile WiFi Pro 2 and other 4G mobile broadband.

Huawei E5787 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot Review

Huawei E5787 4G+ is a new mobile LTE Hotspot which has been released last year and now it’s available for many network providers in Asia and Europe. This is the successor to the popular Huawei E5786 from the year 2014. As the predecessor, the E5786 modem supports up to 300 MBit/s in the downlink (LTE category 6), technically speaking, not much has changed. The new Huawei E5787 has the large touch screen on the front, with which the hotspot is particularly easy to use. In the test, you will see the detail features of the Huawei E5787 and the specifications.

Huawei E5787
Huawei E5787

Appearance

The Huawei E5787 4g+ MiFi is available in black and white. The device is slightly smaller than the predecessor Huawei E5786 and works overall quite inconspicuous. The large touchscreen display is visible on the front, but an LED indication is not available. At the top of the hotspot is the power button, there is a micro-USB port as well as two TS-9 antenna connectors. In addition to the power supply and USB charging cable, it also includes a small hand loop in the package, which can be attached to the router.

Huawei E5787 E5787s-33a

The first impression is quite good. After inserting the SIM card as well as the battery (nano-SIM cards with adapter on MicroSIM work safely) you have to start the Huawei E5787 over a long press on the power button. If you do not use a completely exotic provider, the LTE Hotspot configures itself completely automatically and after entering the SIM PIN you are already online.

Technical specifications

The Huawei E5787 is sold worldwide in several variants, which support different frequency ranges. The Huawei E5787s-33a is available in Europe and is compatible with all frequency bands that are important in Europe but can also be used on other continents. Unfortunately, with the chipset has not changed in comparison to the predecessor, there is still “only” LTE Cat6 with 300 MBit/s. Many smartphones such as the Huawei P10  or the Samsung Galaxy S8 are already offered at least 600 MBit/s in the downlink with a higher-level chipset, and the Netgear AirCard 810 touch screen hotspot is also providing faster service.

Operation & Touchscreen

The E5787 is Huawei’s first mobile WLAN router with touch-screen operation. The display is 2.4 inches in size and provides a color display. The plastic cover over the display reflects quite strongly and the display quality of the display is not comparable to that of current smartphones, but much worse. You can recognize all the contents well, but when you look at the display, it is somewhat brighter. But the response of the screen is good, and usually one seldom uses the display at an LTE Hotspot.

Huawei E5787 E5787s-33a

The speed of the software and the response speed of the touchscreen could be convincing. Huawei offers a much better experience in the E5787 hotspot than Netgear AirCard 790 or AirCard 810 Hotspot. Also, the software is quite appealing, without losing the functionality from the eye.

On the start screen, all important functions are displayed by default. This includes a large time display including the date as well as the status bar Information about the reception, WLAN and battery. Access to further functions or the settings is obtained by unlocking the E5787 with a “Swipe” to the left. In the main menu, there are the 6 menu items “Connection Wizard”, “Energy Saving Mode”, “SSID and Password”, “SMS”, “Settings” and “Info”.

In addition to the touchscreen operation, a web interface is also available, which can be accessed via the IP address 192.168.8.1. In addition, the Huawei HiLink app is also available for iOS and Android, with which a configuration is also possible.

LTE up to 300 MBit/s

Theoretically, the Huawei E5787 with its LTE Cat6 modem reaches speeds of up to 300 MBit/s in the downlink. For this purpose, the hotspot bundles two frequency bands by carrier aggregation technology provided that the mobile radio network also makes this technology available. In the test, speed tests were carried out with SIM cards from Vodafone and Telekom, but only in the frequency range around 800 megahertz, in particular, to be able to test the reception and the speed in remote areas. The Huawei E5787 made a good figure here, especially in comparison with various smartphones, reception is often better and the data rates were slightly higher. In case of doubt, an external antenna can also be connected for the purpose of improving the reception; the necessary two TS-9 connectors are hidden under a side cover. If you need the Huawei E5787 external antenna, you may try this one: http://www.4gltemall.com/4g-antenna-two-ts-9-connector.html

Huawei E5787 E5787s-33a

WLAN without Extender

Devices can be connected to the Internet either via the USB port or via WLAN. The cable connection worked in the test without problems, but most users will probably use WLAN. The maximum speed over WLAN is 867 Mbps, up to 10 devices can be connected at the same time. The Huawei E5787 supports both the frequency range around 2.4 GHz as well as the 5 GHz, the simultaneous use in the dual-band mode is unfortunately not possible. In the test, there were no problems with the WLAN. It is nice that the WLAN access data are no longer displayed in the display like on some previous Huawei hotspots, but are only displayed on demand, so as the important settings such as WLAN SSID, WLAN password.

A major disadvantage of the Huawei E5787 compared to many other LTE hotspots: a so-called WLAN extender or WLAN repeater is missing. The predecessor E5786 had still integrated the function, with which one can use an existing WLAN network as Internet access, but in the E5787, Huawei disabled the function for unknown reasons. It’s really a pity.

Huawei-E5786 VS Huawei E5787

Battery & Other

The battery of the Huawei E5787 has a capacity of 3.000 mAh. The battery can easily be replaced by the user, which is an advantage compared to the predecessor model Huawei E5786. So you can buy a second battery or in the case of a battery defect, quickly replace it even outside the warranty period. In continuous test operation with an average of 3 WLAN devices connected simultaneously to 2.4 GHz, the runtime was around 10 hours.

The E5787 4G Hotspot offers the possibility to also be used as an external battery (“Powerbank”), which can charge an empty smartphone with power off. For a full charge, it should not be enough with most current smartphones, so the Powerbank function is, therefore, more suitable for the emergency.

Conclusion

The Huawei E5787 is a very good LTE hotspot. The touch screen operation was well implemented and the software was designed appealing. The modem performance was good in the test and the maximum speed of 300 MBit/s should be sufficient for most users, but it is disappointing that Huawei “only” installed an LTE Cat6 modem and the E5787 has no great technical improvement. Also some practical functions are missing: the simultaneous spark on 2.4 and 5 Gigahertz is not supported and support of a maximum of 10 devices at the same time in comparison with the competition also somewhat obsolete. Nevertheless: if one can ignore the few criticism points, the Huawei E5787 a very good mobile LTE hotspot to recommend.

Samsung Presented New Flagship Galaxy S8 and S8+

Samsung today introduced its two new flagship smartphones Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+ for the year 2017. The Galaxy S7 Edge gets two successors, which differ mainly by the display size: the Galaxy S8 has a 5.8 inch display while the Galaxy S8+ has a 6.2 inch display. Both the display of the S8 and the S8+ is rounded on both sides, a version without edge display is no longer available. The highlight is certainly the almost frameless design of the Samsung Galaxy S8, the display occupies nearly the entire front, the frames above and below the display are significantly thinner compared to the Galaxy S7. It’s said the Galaxy S8 would be available in the market at the end of April 2017.

Design and display

Visually, the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the Samsung Galaxy S8+ differ only in size. The S8 dimensions are 148.9 x 68.1 x 8.0 millimeters and weight is 152 grams, the S8+ dimensions are 159.5 x 73.4 x 8.1 millimeters and weighs 173 grams. The display has an aspect ratio of 18.5: 9 on both devices, so the devices are very narrow compared to 16: 9 devices with the same display diagonal. For comparison: an iPhone 7 with 4.7 inch display (16: 9) is only 0.8mm narrower than a Galaxy S8 with 5.8 inch display.

The design is broadly similar to that of the Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S7 Edge, the device consists largely of glass, only the frame is made of metal. However, due to the large display, the home button has given way to software buttons and the fingerprint sensor has been placed on the back side of the camera.

Technology and software

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is one of the first smartphones to support LTE Category 16. This allows extremely high speeds to be reached via the mobile network, depending on the extent of the network up to 1 Gbit/s in the downlink. As a processor, there is a octa-core Samsung Exynos 8895 with 64Bit, 4 x 1,7 GHz and 4 x 2,3 GHz. In other markets a Qualcomm chipset is installed, the performance should be comparable. The memory is 4 GB and the internal memory measures 64 GB (UFS 2.1 technology, via MicroSD expandable). The Galaxy S8 have versions with single sim and dual SIM functionality for different markets and carriers, the sim type is Nano-SIM.

The back camera of the Samsung Galaxy S8 offers a resolution of 12 megapixels and has an f1.7 aperture. The sensor works in the 4: 3 format, who would rather take photos in the 16: 9 format, has to deal with a lower resolution. The camera on the front takes photos with up to 8 megapixel resolution and also offers a f1.7 aperture.

In the WLAN area, the Galaxy S8 offers a very modern equipment. The 802.11ac standard is supported with MU-MIMO antenna technology, in combination with a modern MU-MIMO router, you should get significant speed advantages. The Galaxy S8 also supports NFC and Bluetooth 5.0 as well as various satellite navigation systems.

As an operating system, Android is used in version 7.0, of course again with a Samsung-adapted surface. The always-on display has been adapted in such a way that a home button is also visible when the display is switched off, since the physical home button has been lost in comparison with its predecessor.

Battery

The Samsung Galaxy S8 has – like the Galaxy S8+ – a permanently installed battery, which cannot be removed. The capacity is at the S8 3.000 mAh, while in the S8+, it is 3,500 mAh. The two devices support wireless fast charging as well as fast charging via the USB type C connector. By the way: in contrast to the Apple iPhone 7, Samsung Galaxy S8 does not have the 3.5mm audio jack connection, so you can use normal headphones and is not dependent on adapter or Bluetooth.

Price and availability

The two versions of the Samsung Galaxy S8 can be pre-ordered from now on and until the 19th of April in the Samsung Online-Shop as well as www.4gltemall.com . From the 28th of April, the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ will be available in the colors “Arctic Silver”, “Midnight Black” and “Orchid Gray”.

Huawei P10 and P10 Plus Difference

At the end of February 2017, Huawei presented the two new smartphones Huawei P10 and Huawei P10 Plus at the MWC. Only a few days later, the two phones are already available at first dealers. We already had the opportunity to take the Huawei P10 in our hand and to test briefly, in this article I would like to describe our first impression of the Huawei P10 and, of course, a short overview of the technical data. In addition, we share the images from Huawei about the new phone, in which it presents you the details of the Huawei P10 and also the differences between P10 and P10 Plus!

Huawei P10

The Huawei P10 would be available soon in the colors black, blue, silver and gold. We could see the gold version; this version left a very positive impression. The body is completely gold, a visible frame is not available through the metal design. The display glass is slightly rounded to the sides, which makes the device very handy. It’s in extremely strong similarity to the Apple iPhone 7, which is the first expression when hand the phone. But this should not be a disadvantage, because like the iPhone, the P10 can convince with its case on full line and even offers some advantages: there is a 3.5mm headphone connector and the camera is completely integrated in the case. Nice detail: the power button is red colored like the predecessor Huawei Nova and looks particularly beautiful in connection with the gold case.

The internal memory of the Huawei P10 is 64 GB and can be expanded with a MicroSD memory card, the memory measures 4 GB. As a processor, the HiSilicon Kirin 960 is used, the same model is already used in the Huawei Mate 9. Of course, again, a fast LTE modem is on board, according to Huawei, LTE category 11 is supported, ie up to 600 MBit/s in the downlink and up to 50 MBit/s in the uplink.

The battery of the Huawei P10 is 3,200 mAh large and cannot be changed by the user, which is very common for current flagship smartphone. Huawei supplies a power supply with quick charge function so that the battery can be recharged very quickly. As a connection for charging and data transfer, USB Type C is used, wireless charging function is not available in the Huawei P10.

Huawei P10 Plus

The Huawei P10 Plus is larger than the P10: 153.5 x 74.2 x 6.98 mm are the dimensions, compared to 145.3 x 69.3 x 6.98 mm for the P10. Moreover, it is about 165 grams heavier than the P10. The reason for the larger dimensions is the 5.5 inch display with 2560 x 1440 pixels, while the P10 “only” offers a 5.1 inch display with 1920 x 1080 pixels. The processor is the same as the P10, but the memory is somewhat larger with 6 GB and also the internal memory space is 128 GB twice as large as the P10.

The 12 megapixel dual camera of the Huawei P10 Plus is slightly better than the P10, which applies to both the front and the rear. So the P10 Plus has a f1.8 aperture, so more light should be on the sensor than with the f2.2 aperture of the P10. The 8 megapixel front camera of the P10 Plus also offers an autofocus, but the P10 is only a fixed focus. As with the predecessor model Huawei P9, the camera was developed in cooperation with the German company Leica. In a first test, the quality of the P10 camera in bright environments was very good, but in dark environments, the effect is not as good as expected.

Below are the main difference between Huawei P10 and P10 Plus:

But before you get the right one, check the network compatibility first with your carriers.

Netgear LB1110 4G LTE Modem Review

At IFA 2016, Netgear had presented the two LTE modems LB1110 and LB1111, and the LB1110 is finally arrived to the test around the end of December. The LB1110 is an external LTE modem with Gigabit Ethernet RJ45 connection, but other functions such as battery operation, WLAN or a telephone interface are deliberately omitted. The Netgear LB1110 requires an external power supply, the sister model LB1111 additionally has Power over Ethernet (PoE), ie the power can be supplied directly via the Ethernet cable. In this review, you can read more about the performance from Netgear LB1110 modem.

netgear_lb1110_lb1111-2

Appearance

The Netgear LB1110 modem is packed in a small cardboard box. Besides the device, there is also a short LAN cable as well as the power supply (with adapter for Europe and British plug format). Furthermore, there is a brief guide, which should help for operation.

The Netgear LB1110 is completely made of plastic and offers some green LEDs on the front for signal reception, network status and LAN connection. At first glance the modem looks solidly processed and it makes a good impression. With dimensions of 120 x 99 x 31 mm (W x D x H), it is quite compact and can also be attached to the wall if required.

netgear_lb1110_lb1111-3

Hardware & Speed

The Netgear LB1110 modem has a single RJ-45 Gigabit Ethernet port on the back. Here, a single computer can be connected directly, or the connection to a router or switch can be established. Furthermore, you will find the connection for the power supply (DC, 12V, 1A), a reset button and a power button on the back.

The Netgear LB1110 modem allows speeds of up to 150 MBit/s in the downlink and up to 50 Mbps in the uplink via LTE Category 4. In addition to the FDD LTE frequency bands around 800, 1800 and 2600 MHz currently in use in Europe, FDD LTE is also supported on 900 MHz and TDD LTE on 2300 MHz. UMTS is supported with the data accelerator DC-HSPA+, the theoretically maximum possible speed is 42.2 Mbps in the downlink and 5.76 Mbps in the uplink. Here, the bands are supported by 900 and 2100 MHz. As a fallback, the LB1110 modem can also use Quadband GSM.

Netgear LB1111 LB1111-100EUS

In the test, the Netgear LB1110 modem with SIM cards from O2 and Telekom was used; the tariffs had no limitation of the speed. With a good UMTS reception in the network from the Telekom, about 26 MBit/s in the Downlink were possible, with O2 it reached up to 21 MBit/s. LTE was considerably slower at O2 despite a good reception with only around 7 MBit/s – here the network was certainly overloaded. The ping times were 25 milliseconds on the LTE network and 40 milliseconds on UMTS. In the Telecom LTE network at 1800 MHz, some 130 MBit/s were possible. Depending on the location, reception and network load, these values vary widely, this is completely normal.

The reception via the internal antennas is good and is clearly superior to that of most smartphones. Nevertheless, it may be useful to connect an external mobile radio antenna at some locations. The LB1110 has two TS-9 connectors on the rear panel. Netgear itself provides as a passive antenna, which is also suitable for mobile use.

Software & Operation

The Netgear LB1110 can be operated from any browser. The web interface is encrypted with a password and the PIN code for the SIM card must be entered after switching on for the first time. On request, the router remembers the PIN, so you do not have to re-enter it every time. By the way, the SIM card is inserted in a small compartment on the back of the LB1110, a MicroSIM is required, but a Nano SIM with adapter is also OK.

Netgear LB1111 LB1111-100EUS

The web interface is available in several languages, looks modern, tidy and functional. The start screen displays the most important information, such as the reception strength and the data volume consumed. On request, a tariff can also be stored and thus the data volume can be limited, if necessary, the router even sends a warning SMS as soon as the volume has been used up. The settings can be used to configure various functions, for example, it is possible to set the router so that only the UMTS network or the LTE network is used. Also, it is possible in the settings to disable the LEDs on the router when they are not needed.

LB1111 Power over Ethernet

With LB1110, there is the sister model Netgear LB1111. Compared to the LB1110, it looks identical and offers the same functions, but it also has Power over Ethernet (PoE, ie power supply over Ethernet cable). With a PoE-capable router or switch, it is possible to operate the LB1111 modem completely without an external power supply. This is especially interesting in buildings, where there is no socket near the modem.  With an ideal placement of the modem and the power supply via PoE, one could dispense an external LTE antenna in many cases.

netgear_lb1110_lb1111-4

Conclusion: Netgear LB1110

The Netgear LB1110 modem is convincing by good reception, good speeds and easy operation thanks to modern software. The connection is stable and the status LEDs are very easy to read. If you are looking for a good LTE modem with RJ-45 LAN connection and do not want further technology such as telephone and WLAN, the LB1110 is in any case well advised.

The only fault: even if the maximum LTE speed of 150 MBit/s in the downlink and 50 MBit/s in the uplink would be absolutely enough, Netgear would have to face the competition from other similar faster modem such as Huawei E5771 and E5770, ZTE MF903. The similar models have inserted large battery and can work on the go. The only slightly more expensive models Netgear AirCard 790 and AirCard 810 hotspots are more powerful and support higher LTE networks.

Four LTE Category 6 Mobile Hotspots to Recommend

LTE networks are becoming the mainstream available in many countries and areas. With LTE technology, users can enjoy high speed surfing, online games or watching videos etc..The good news is that this is not the end. Huawei E5786

Huawei E5786 should be the first LTE Cat6 mobile WiFi available in the market with Huawei own Hisilicon chipset. It has three branch models: E5786s-32a, E5786s-62a, E5786s-63a. The Huawei E5786s-63a and E5786s-62a are for the network providers in Australia and they had new name “Telstra Wi-Fi 4G Advanced Pro X” and “Optu 4G WiFi modem” respectively. There are white and black colors available. But you can get the unlocked version from www.4gltemall.com for global use. Like its predecessors Huawei E5573 and E5577, the branch models could support different LTE frequency bands for different carriers and areas. Up to 10 wireless users could connect to Huawei E5786 and surf at high speed. There is a LCD screen in the front with power button. The back cover could be removed, but the 3000mAh battery is built-in. The SIM card and Micro SD card slots could be seen when back cover removed. There are two TS-9 connectors for external 4G LTE/3G antenna.

huawei-e5786-netgear-790s-zte-mf970-alcatel-y900-back-cover

Netgear Aircard 790s

Netgear Aircard 790s is the second LTE cat6 mobile router available in the market. Based the predecessor Netgear Aircard 782s, it looks similar to the 782s aircard. Unlike the Huawei E5786, the screen of Aircard 790s is capacitive screen, where user can operate and do simple settings for the mobile hotspot. The power button is on the top side, the bottom side has two connectors for external antenna (TS-9 type). The USB port is also special with 3.0 port, but with the device, Netgear provides the USB 2.0 cable. The back cover could also be removed, so as the battery. The battery capacity is 2930mAh. The SIM card slot could be seen after battery is pulled out. No slot for Micro SD card. With Qualcomm MDM9230 chipset, Aircard 790s could support up to 15 wireless WiFi-enabled devices. ZTE UFi MF970

Following the steps of the above two vendors, ZTE released the UFi MF970. It looks common like its predecessor MF910. MF970 was already available for Vodafone 4G contract. The front middle is the screen to indicate the connection status. User can do simple settings through the power and menu button. The power and menu button is on the top side. The back cover can’t be removed, so the battery can’t be changed. And there are also two connectors for external LTE/3G antenna. Like Netgear Aircard 790s, there is no slot for Micro SD card. Also with Qualcomm chipset MDM9230, ZTE UFi MF970 could support up to 14 wireless users. The battery is only 2300mAh, which is much lower than the above two similar hotspots. The design of ZTE MF970 looks cool. Other features are very similar to the competitors above.

Alcatel One Touch Y900

Alcatel One Touch Y900, also called Alcatel Link Y900 4G+, looks special in the appearance. The signal bars on the front side looks cool but are not really interesting. In all the four LTE cat6 mobile routers, the Y900 is the only which doesn’t have a LCD display. There is only a power button on the body with the WPS button on the other side of the button. The back cover could be removed for changing the battery and inserting SIM card and SD storage card. The big battery is interesting, which has 3600mAh capacity and not only working long time, but also charge other electronics to work like a power bank. What’s amazing, the Alcatel Y900 could support up to 32 wireless users to access internet. In the four devices, Alcatel Y900 seems to be the most powerful mobile hotspot. I personally like this one more.

Huawei E8377 CarFi VS ZTE VFi MF905

More and more people show great dependence to WiFi, even when they are on the go, especially in a car. The manufacturers in China has notice the demand and provided solution for this. We had introduced Huawei CarFi E8377 many times in the past year. You may get familiar with it. And another Chinese vendor ZTE also provide the similar product ZTE VFi MF905 for the network demand in a car. Here come the questions: What’s the difference between Huawei E8377 and ZTE MF905? Which one is better? In this article, you will find the answer for this.

zte-vfi-mf905-vs-huawei-carfi-e8377-4gltemall

Appearance

ZTE VFi MF905 comes later than Huawei E8377, but the two mobile WiFi hotspots look alike in shape and color. They are both in black color and used for cigarette cradle in a car. There is a USB port in the body, and of course there is a slot for SIM card in the two hotspots. But the SIM card slot in Huawei E8377 is covered by a small cap. The SIM card slot in MF905 is just above the USB port.  On the top side, the logo and LED indicators are shown. The power button is at the center of the top.

huawei-e8377-carfi-hotspot-4gltemall

Technical Specifications

They are both with LTE Category 4 technology, so they can achieve peak download speed to 150mbps and upload speed to 50mbps. The transmission date rates are very good for daily surfing. But whether the surfing speed could be stable when a car is in high speed driving, it still needs time to test.

As a follower, ZTE MF905 could support up to 8 wireless users to access internet while Huawei E8377 supports only 10 users. But in most cases, they are enough to use in a car. There is no official saying about the WiFi coverage distance, but we suppose there is no any problem for the WiFi to cover a whole car.

huawei-carfi-e8377-sim-card-slot

Control

If user want to do some setup in the CarFi, they can connect the tablets, smartphones or PCs with WiFi and log in the web interface to setup. But here now, Huawei and ZTE also provide a new option for users. User can download the apps to setup the two CarFi. For Huawei E8377 CarFi, you may use “Huawei Mobile WiFi” app. And for ZTE MF905, the app name ZTE Link could be used for settings.

Frankly speaking, the two Car WiFi hotspots are very similar. We cannot tell which one is better from the specifications and features. Only the real test would tell which would have more stable and better performance. We will take a test next time in real driving situation to see this result.

zte_mf905_vfi-4gltemall

If you had read some review before, there is also other solution for the Car WiFi. The model number is Huawei E8372 and Alcatel W800. They are in the shape of USB dongle, not like the E8377 and MF905. But with the cigarette plug, it would be also OK to use in a car. If you want to know more details of them, welcome to check on www.4gltemall.com .
