We all know Huawei mobile WiFi hotspot are dominating the mobile world for wireless networking. Now, Huawei introduced a mobile hotspot HiLink Carfì (E8377) for the car, which is operated directly by the cigarette lighter. The small adapter supports LTE Category 4 and enables downloads at up to 150 Mbit/s and uploads of up to 50 Mbit/s through only a valid SIM card. The Netgear AirCard 790 Router reaching speeds of just over 200 Mbit/s in download and up to 44 Mbit/s upstream. But the usual data rates were between 50 and 120 Mbit/s. The latency times were between 20 and 40 milliseconds (depending on the test server).

Dual Band Wireless AC

In our test, the Huawei E5186 consistently gave 30-50% speed more than other routers and modems.

The Huawei E5186 router can achieve 30 Mbit/s easily on measurements at almost any time of day, and the rate of “around” 40-45 Mbit/s is nothing special. Data transfer rate in the network for upload was always higher than 10 Mbit/s, which was also a pleasant surprise to me. From the point of view, the ordinary use of the Internet is very convenience, and I did not see the difference from wired connection.

Summary

The price of the Huawei E5186 is a little bit expensive now. It is of course a progressive and avant-garde. But with the latest technology and good performance with fast & stable connection, the E5186 router is worthy this price.

If you already read our reviews months ago, you may also get to know another model from huawei for the LTE advanced Category 6. Summary

Huawei CarFi was doing a positive test. First of all, it was very easy to install and use (management from a smartphone). Secondly, you can connect up to 10 different devices at the same time to use them from the Internet. Thirdly, featured router is not a big financial expenditure, and may prove to be very useful during a business trip (work in a car) or a long trip with friends and family. If you drive often in the car with a few people and your car does not have its own WiFi router, the Huawei CarFi is recommendable.

How to update the firmware of Huawei E5786

Huawei E5786 is world’s first LTE mobile hotspot with LTE Advanced Cat6 and WLAN ac, and it’s one of the fastest mobile LTE router on the market. Thanks to good facilities and powerful battery, Huawei E5786 is popular with many users. However, there is also a small problem with the device, which annoys some users recently.

Huawei has announced the E5786 in February 2014 with the so-called WiFi Extender feature, a feature that we already know from many other Huawei MiFi routers. However, Huawei provides the appliance with different firmware versions, in which some of the WiFi Extender is disabled. In this article, I want to show how to flash the firmware of Huawei E5786 to the version which is equipped with the WiFi Extender.

On some forums, we has found a firmware for the Huawei E5786 LTE router, a user who has already integrated the WiFi Extender function. The firmware should be OK with both the original Huawei E5786 and the unit from Germany Telekom (Telekom Speedbox LTE mini II ), at least there are already reports from users who have their device successfully updated to version 21.303.07.00.00. If one has a E5786 with telecom brand, after the flash, you will get a new firmware with no more branding. Below are the procedure how to update the firmware:

download the Huawei E5786 new firmware zip and unzip all programs on PC
Connect Router with USB cable and at least 10% battery(Better more !!)
Starting the firmware .exe file with admin rights and follow the instructions
also flash GUI. exe

After about 5 minutes of process, the flash should be completed. Some devices may require a Pin code to flash, it can be generated using IMEI number on relevant websites – here you should try Google shortly. I personally have no customized E5786 with telecom brand to test, but in the above linked LTE Forum, there are some opinions that are positive, so I decided to publish the guide here. Nevertheless:
