The IK40V has the whole range of mobile radio standards practically, which are relevant for a problem-free operation in city and country. There would be GSM, EDGE (2G), UMTS, HSDPA, HSUPA, (3G) and, of course, LTE (4G). LTE bands B1/B3/B7/B8 and B20 are supported by the integrated LTE modem, which corresponds to the frequencies at 800, 900, 1800, 2100 and 2600 MHz. It meets the category 4 (CAT4) standard. Other features

Samsung Presented New Flagship Galaxy S8 and S8+

Samsung today introduced its two new flagship smartphones Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+ for the year 2017. The Galaxy S7 Edge gets two successors, which differ mainly by the display size: the Galaxy S8 has a 5.8 inch display while the Galaxy S8+ has a 6.2 inch display. Both the display of the S8 and the S8+ is rounded on both sides, a version without edge display is no longer available. The highlight is certainly the almost frameless design of the Samsung Galaxy S8, the display occupies nearly the entire front, the frames above and below the display are significantly thinner compared to the Galaxy S7. It’s said the Galaxy S8 would be available in the market at the end of April 2017.

Design and display

Visually, the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the Samsung Galaxy S8+ differ only in size. The S8 dimensions are 148.9 x 68.1 x 8.0 millimeters and weight is 152 grams, the S8+ dimensions are 159.5 x 73.4 x 8.1 millimeters and weighs 173 grams. The display has an aspect ratio of 18.5: 9 on both devices, so the devices are very narrow compared to 16: 9 devices with the same display diagonal. For comparison: an iPhone 7 with 4.7 inch display (16: 9) is only 0.8mm narrower than a Galaxy S8 with 5.8 inch display.

The design is broadly similar to that of the Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S7 Edge, the device consists largely of glass, only the frame is made of metal. However, due to the large display, the home button has given way to software buttons and the fingerprint sensor has been placed on the back side of the camera.

Technology and software

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is one of the first smartphones to support LTE Category 16. As an operating system, Android is used in version 7.0, of course again with a Samsung-adapted surface. Battery

The Samsung Galaxy S8 has – like the Galaxy S8+ – a permanently installed battery, which cannot be removed. The capacity is at the S8 3.000 mAh, while in the S8+, it is 3,500 mAh. With LTE Cat11 technology, the new TP-Link M7650 can handle a bandwidth of up to 600 Mbit/s in the download. Another highlight is that the M7650 provide networking with up to 32 devices via the WLAN network.

TP-Link M7650 – Powerful Mobile Hotspot

The new portable 4G router looks smart. In order to meet the ever-increasing maximum bandwidths in the LTE networks, a modem has been installed, which the Internet speed could achieve at up to 600 Mbps ( Cat. 11 ) via LTE accesses. The upload is, however, with a maximum of 50 Mbit/s. At the moment (at the end of March 2017) the manufacturer didn’t release detail specifications of this new model. Therefore, we cannot known all the technical specifications, such as the dimension and weight. However, TP-Link confirmed, among other things.

The first thing, the M7650 could reach download speed up 600 Mbit/s. The WiFi module of the M7650 makes a good job here, as up to 867 Mbit/s are implemented via a 5 gigahertz frequency. Devices that do not support WLAN at 5 GHz can get network with 2.4 GHz. With this spectrum, up to 300 Mbit/s can still be implemented in the download. This mobile LTE router should not be blamed for the battery life. According to the manufacturer, with 3,000 mAh rechargeable battery, a maximum of 15 hours of continuous operation is possible. A mobile device can not only be connected with the M7650 via hotspot, but also configure the router.

The Chinese corporation TP-link does not show a new design for M7650 so that it can be special out of the mobile gadgets; it just follows the appearance of the M7310. There is a color mixture of silver and black and an informative TFT display. All information relevant to the operation is displayed on the latter, including the LTE signal strength, the battery status, the current speed or the network operator identification, everything is clear. The display measures 1.44 inches in the diagonal, it can be operated via physical buttons. It’s a pity that TP-Link M7650 does not have a touch screen while the similar model Netgear Aircard 810s already provides touch screen for users. What’s more, the integrated memory card slot accommodates microSD cards with a size of up to 32 GB.

Here now, the TP-link M7650 is not yet available on the market. There is another model Netgear Aircard 810s which has similar specifications and it’s already available on the market. Netgear AirCard 810s Review

Netgear is known as a leader in the world for mobile connections and has distinguished itself in this field producing various portable 3G/4G devices, which are highly appreciated by users. In the series of wireless aircards, Netgear presented aircard 781s, 782s, 785s, and 790s and the Sierra wireless’s aircard 760s, 762s an 763s. And Netgear doesn’t stop here. New models with upgraded technology become available as time goes.

We got the new modem Netgear AirCard 810S for a long time and we present our views today. It is a Wi-Fi router with the possibility to use with 3G and 4G by your SIM card (in the format mini). On the top, we find a single physical button to switch on and to awaken the display. Once turned on the front screen you will light up and from there you can manage almost all settings, thanks to a convenient touch panel or the two keys (always touch) present alongside.

What’s more, the presence of two connections for external antennas and a removable battery (the SIM card holder is located under it) are very useful for users. If the Netgear aircard 810s is working at some places with weak signal, it’s better to connect 4G LTE MIMO antenna with two TS-9 connectors to improve the signal and surfing performance. The removable battery can provide an option for users to use spare battery.

Signal reception on both 3G and 4G are excellent for long trips by train, and the signal was stable for a long time. We have many devices connected to our Netgear AC810S router using the password supplied, but it can be changed with ease. The display gives you lot of information simultaneously: the connection status, remaining battery power, the network name, password, data consumed since the last reset of the counters and days remaining to next renewal.

After enter in the web interface, we can see three columns: WiFi, Messages and Settings. The first allows us to change the Wi-Fi network settings, such as name, password, or even activate the network in 5 GHz(2.4 GHz as default ) or a network for guests. You can also check which devices are connected. And it also presents WPS and the ability to increase or decrease coverage.

The settings for the Aircard 810s portable router can also control the brightness and screen timeout, the network preference, APN, and airplane mode. What most surprised us, however, is the autonomy of this device. Huawei P10 and P10 Plus Difference

At the end of February 2017, Huawei presented the two new smartphones Huawei P10 and Huawei P10 Plus at the MWC. Only a few days later, the two phones are already available at first dealers. We already had the opportunity to take the Huawei P10 in our hand and to test briefly, in this article I would like to describe our first impression of the Huawei P10 and, of course, a short overview of the technical data. Huawei P10

The Huawei P10 would be available soon in the colors black, blue, silver and gold. We could see the gold version; this version left a very positive impression. The body is completely gold, a visible frame is not available through the metal design. The display glass is slightly rounded to the sides, which makes the device very handy. It’s in extremely strong similarity to the Apple iPhone 7, which is the first expression when hand the phone. But this should not be a disadvantage, because like the iPhone, the P10 can convince with its case on full line and even offers some advantages: there is a 3.5mm headphone connector and the camera is completely integrated in the case. Nice detail: the power button is red colored like the predecessor Huawei Nova and looks particularly beautiful in connection with the gold case.

The internal memory of the Huawei P10 is 64 GB and can be expanded with a MicroSD memory card, the memory measures 4 GB. As a processor, the HiSilicon Kirin 960 is used, the same model is already used in the Huawei Mate 9. Of course, again, a fast LTE modem is on board, according to Huawei, LTE category 11 is supported, ie up to 600 MBit/s in the downlink and up to 50 MBit/s in the uplink.

The battery of the Huawei P10 is 3,200 mAh large and cannot be changed by the user, which is very common for current flagship smartphone. Huawei supplies a power supply with quick charge function so that the battery can be recharged very quickly. As a connection for charging and data transfer, USB Type C is used, wireless charging function is not available in the Huawei P10.

Huawei P10 Plus

The Huawei P10 Plus is larger than the P10: 153.5 x 74.2 x 6.98 mm are the dimensions, compared to 145.3 x 69.3 x 6.98 mm for the P10. Moreover, it is about 165 grams heavier than the P10. The reason for the larger dimensions is the 5.5 inch display with 2560 x 1440 pixels, while the P10 “only” offers a 5.1 inch display with 1920 x 1080 pixels. The processor is the same as the P10, but the memory is somewhat larger with 6 GB and also the internal memory space is 128 GB twice as large as the P10.

The 12 megapixel dual camera of the Huawei P10 Plus is slightly better than the P10, which applies to both the front and the rear. So the P10 Plus has a f1.8 aperture, so more light should be on the sensor than with the f2.2 aperture of the P10. The 8 megapixel front camera of the P10 Plus also offers an autofocus, but the P10 is only a fixed focus. As with the predecessor model Huawei P9, the camera was developed in cooperation with the German company Leica. In a first test, the quality of the P10 camera in bright environments was very good, but in dark environments, the effect is not as good as expected.

Netgear Nighthawk R7000 AC1900 – thanks to LTE-Advanced

With the AC1900 Codename “Nighthawk”, you get an all-round carefree package for modern broadband connections. By using a micro SIM card equipped with a LTE data tariff, LTE speeds of up to 300 Mbit/s can be achieved in the download and a maximum of 50 Mbit/s in the upload. This corresponds to LTE-A of category 6 (CAT6). In order to realize these bandwidths, two-band carrier aggregation with up to 40 megahertz is used. The equipment of the used LTE bands is for the use in European areas without gaps. The most important 4G frequencies in Europe, 800 Megahertz, 1,800 Megahertz and 2,600 Megahertz, are supported by the Nighthawk. If the LTE reception is not sufficient, backward bands can also be used on 3G (UMTS). Here the band 1 (2,100 Megahertz) and 8 (900 Megahertz) are used.

Netgear Netgear R7000 provides powerful hardware

The hardware platform of the LTE router reads quite usable. For example, a 1 gigahertz clocked dual-core processor is working inside the device with 256 MB of RAM. The Austrian network operator 3 has once again added a new 4G LTE router to its product range: the 3neo by the Chinese manufacturer ZTE. At first glance, the design of the router looks unusual and definitely not like a usual wireless router. The modem of the 3neo can use LTE of category 6 and reaches up to 300 MBit/s in the downlink and up to 50 MBit/s in the uplink. Of course the router is also downwards compatible with the older 3G/UMTS technology, and up to 42.2 MBit/s in the downlink is possible. If desired, the mobile radio reception can be improved by an external LTE antenna, the required connections are hidden under a cover on the back. In addition to the two connectors for an external antenna, there are also four RJ-45 Gigabit LAN connections as well as an RJ-11 telephone connection. Also the connection for the power supply is on the back, the plug for 12V/5A is also suitable for operation on an external battery/Powerbank, but unfortunately no MicroUSB connection for power supply has been installed. The built-in rechargeable battery in the 3neo / ZTE MF287 has a capacity of 3020 mAh and is supposed to allow an operating time of up to 4 hours without power supply. The WLAN in the 3neo runs on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, the router can supply up to 64 devices at the same time. As a convenience function, for example, a guest network function as well as a WLAN timer is available. The connection is to be set up quickly thanks to QR code and “3Home” app for the smartphone without complicated password input.

Huawei Presents B618 LTE Cat11 Router

The fourth mobile LTE radio generation is becoming more and more powerful, with LTE Advanced Pro and 4.5G, respectively, currently experiencing a new leap in speed. Some 4G smartphones and mobile hotspots already support LTE category 11 or higher, while LTE Cat6 with 300 MBit/s in LTE router models was the highest of the feelings. A few weeks ago, Huawei presents a new 4G LTE Router with Ethernet port and SIM card slot, the model number is Huawei B618, which supports LTE of category 11 with up to 600 MBit/s in the downlink and 50 MBit/s in the uplink.

The Huawei B618 router visually resembles the design of the Huawei E5180 cube and can therefore be designated as its successor. The device is square and quite “high” built, on the front there are various LEDs as well as a WPS button. On the back there is a power button, two RJ-45 Gigabit LAN ports (one of which can also function as a WAN port), as well as a USB 2.0 port. There is also an RJ-11 connection for an analog telephone or fax machine as well as the connection for the external power supply. Under one cover are two connectors for an external antenna. There is no battery for mobile use.

The modem in the Huawei B618 works with LTE Cat11 and achieves data rates of up to 600 MBit/s in the downlink as well as 50 MBit/s in the uplink. Which LTE Advanced Pro / 4.5G features are supported exactly is still unknown, but in any case, Triple Carrier Aggregation is on board. This allows the Huawei B618 to bundle three different frequency ranges with a maximum of 20 MHz each. To get to 600 MBit/s is enough but not the same, as the 256QAM modulation controls the modem in the downlink. Alternatively, the support for 4 × 4 MIMO would be conceivable whether the B618 can do this, but is currently not clearly identified.

The WLAN module allows connection to up to 64 devices at the same time in the 2.4 GHz and the 5 GHz band. The maximum data rate is 867 Mbps (802.11 ac), the WLAN antennas are fixed in the Huawei B618 and cannot be exchanged.

Until now, the Huawei B618 only appears in Poland at Play (February 2017), where it is marketed in conjunction with the “4G LTE ULTRA” offer. As mobile radio networks continue to grow, however, it is likely that the Huawei B618 LTE router will also find their way to other countries and to other providers, which is often the case with Huawei LTE router models, however, user should pay close attention to the supported features and frequency bands, as Huawei can often optimize the routers for the respective provider and remove individual functions such as the telephone function. The B618 router available model number Huawei B618s-22d in Poland at Play seems to be unbranded and it may be suitable for the other market in Europe as it supports all important LTE band 1, 3, 7, 8, 20.

If you are looking for the latest new 4G Router with special design and supporting LTE-advanced network, you’d better have a check the ZTE MF287 4G Router which looks not like a common router.
