Unitree Dex5-S Human-sized Biomimetic Robotic Hand
Availability: In stock
The Unitree Dex5-S is a human-sized biomimetic robotic hand featuring 22 active degrees of freedom (DoF) across 22 direct-drive electric motors, completely removing the need for a tendon-driven system. Unveiled by Unitree Robotics in September 2026 as the successor to the older Dex5-1, it is explicitly built at a 1:1 human hand scale to enable natural, precise object manipulation on humanoid robot platforms.
Unitree Dex5-S Human-sized Biomimetic Robotic Hand Core Specifications:

Key Structural & Safety Features
----------------------------------------------
• Pinky Roll Joint: Unlike traditional robot hands, the little finger has a unique fifth axis allowing it to roll inward. This enables the hand to form a natural cupping shape to safely wrap around real-world objects like bottles, tools, and cans.
• Smooth Backdrivability: Every joint is fully backdrivable, meaning the fingers yield to external forces instead of staying completely rigid, protecting both the hand and surrounding objects during unexpected contact.
• Limit-Impact Torque Protection: Built-in safeguards instantly prevent mechanical damage if a joint hits its physical travel limit or experiences a sudden knock.
• Full Data Feedback: The system outputs exhaustive telemetry data, including granular tracking for joint position, speed, torque, temperature, operating voltage, and current.
• Sensor & Hardware Add-ons: The Pro version supports integrated tactile sensing (touch feedback), and the structural framework natively supports direct connections for a palm camera.
