Successor of the Speed Stick III

The Speedstick V should be named Speedstick IV, but we found it missed and IV and directly to V. Perhaps there is a model between the Speedstick V and III. In any case, the Speed Stick IV has not been a really big hit. The Speed Stick III was the best model in the range – this status is now taking over the 5. And it will no longer be available.

First impression

First, it is noticeable that Huawei continues to focus on the size of the sticks. The Speed Stick V is 4 millimeters smaller than Version III and with only 24 grams of even 25 percent lighter. And also the height has been reduced by the same length. Unfortunately, Huawei also rationalized the articulated steering away. Actually, this is often helpful when using the laptop, so we rather see it as a deterioration. Solving space issues then creates only the use of an extension cord. In terms of design, optics and processing’s are unfortunately some drawbacks that affect not only the noble silver edge and slightly curvy concept of its predecessor. Here Huawei has unfortunately saved considerably on material. In this price range you must not ask for anything more. We hope that these savings will no established line at Huawei. But what ultimately counts are the intrinsic values.

Technical Data

Under the Telekom logo hides the Huawei model this time with the serial identifier E3372, specifically E3372s-153. Again the LTE stick is not compatible with the category 6 (CAT6). In other words, he has mastered yet a LTE-Advanced. The Hisilicon chip allows for connections up to 150 Mbps download rate on category 4 (CAT4). That’s not so tragic, because it is expected with the launch of the new Super-LTE network eventually only in a few months. Why the Telekom is not equal to CAT6 is nevertheless remains questionable because the life cycle of the stick back for sure should be far more than 1 year. Thus it can be assumed that there will be an extra Surfstick for LTE-Advanced. Another positive feature relates to the network compatibility. The Speed Stick V supports LTE on the frequencies 800, 900, 1800, 2100 and 2600 MHz. In the event that no 4G is available, it is switched to GPRS, EDGE, UMTS or HSPA. This is always done automatically and is based on the next best available alternative locally. In this regard, so there are no changes to the Speed Stick III.

As usual, it is possible the Surfstick also be used as storage medium, if a microSD is implemented in the slot provided for it. The card may be up to 32 GB in size. The customer can switch an external antenna for reception optimization. There are 2 CRC 9 ports ready on the side.  Here on the standard format (2FF) will continue to set. So if you have a micro SIM, requires an adapter. There is no SIM Netlock as usual.

Availability

The Speedstick V is now available on www.4gltemall.com without any contract. In our opinion, it’s on of the best stick now on the market.

Vodafone K5007 is the first Vodafone surfstick that supports download speeds of up to 150 megabits per second. For this, the surf stick uses the LTE category 4 technologies, which was introduced by Vodafone in the summer of 2013. In some cities where there is no LTE network available at the current location, users could resort to conventional 3G network (or lower). Per UMTS or HSPA+, data rates of up to 42.2 Mbit/s are then still possible.

On the front of the white K5007, there is a logo of the provider Vodafone and also the software has been optimized for use with Vodafone sim cards.  After entering the SIM PIN, no additional configuration steps are necessary, since the relevant access data are already stored. The connection software is compatible with all major operating systems such as Windows XP, Windows 7, and 8 and Mac OS X. Important parameters such as the data usage, or the online time can be read at a glance in the software. The advanced configuration allows to manually selecting a network and the provider via the Setup menu.

The USB port of the K5007 provides a practical swivel joint, after plug to laptop, the modem can save much space, which is a clear advantage over many other LTE surf sticks. Through the support of LTE Category 4, Speeds of up to 150 Mbit/s for downstream and upload speed up to 50 Mbit/s are possible in the LTE network. Under the providers’ network, user can get only appropriate data rates. UMTS download up to 42.2 Mbit/s and upload 5.76 Mb/s are possible, further also the 2G network (GPRS / EDGE) is supported. However, the Vodafone network with upgraded to LTE Category 4 is available only in a few cities. It would take a few more months to cover all the cities.

Connections

On the side of the K5007, there are two connections for an external antenna. There is also an expansion slot for MicroSD type memory cards, using which one can use the device as a storage medium. The memory card may be up to 32 gigabytes in size, so that it is detected by the modem.

Conclusion

The K5007 stick is with a modem for extremely fast data connections, so Vodafone has a high quality stick once again in the pipeline. It is now available in the shop www.4gltemall.com. As alternatives, you can consider the technically identical offer, for example, Huawei E3276 or Vodafone K5150, or to. Both devices support LTE with up to 150 megabits per second like Vodafone K5007.

Vodafone K5150 4G LTE Cat4 USB Stick Review

The Vodafone K5150 LTE-Stick is available since August 2013, and allows for download speeds up to 150 megabits per second over the LTE mobile network. For this, the surf stick uses the Category 4 LTE technology, which was introduced LTE2600 in Vodafone network at the same time with the modem in the summer of 2013. You will learn more details on the new high-end Vodafone stick in the following overview.

Technical Specifications

The USB port on the Vodafone K5150 is protected by a red plastic cap and cannot be folded or recessed into the modem. So if there is limited space around your PC, it would be sometimes quite annoying to plug the modem. The brother model Vodafone K5007 features a rotatable USB, which is more user-friendly. Technically, the K5150 is part of the upper class: LTE with up to 150 Mbit/s downstream and 50 Mbit/s in upload, provided that the mobile network and the tariff also allow such high speeds.

The usable frequency ranges of 800, 1800, 2100 and 2600 megahertz cover all previously used in Germany LTE frequencies. And the modem is also usable abroad. Of course, 2G GPRS/EDGE and 3G UMTS are supported, so you can even use the internet where there is no LTE network available. In the UMTS network, data accelerator DC-HSPA+ is used to produce up to 42.2 Mbit/s download and to 5.76 Mbit/s upload. The usable frequency bands are limited here to 900/2100 MHz.

It’s a good device to take when you travel around. The Vodafone K5007 stick, which are similar to the technical data here, but additionally feature a swiveling USB port.

Huawei E3272 4G USB Stick Review

After Huawei E3276, Huawei offers a new model called E3272 for its LTE Stick series. Of course, the model supports LTE Category 4 (up to 150 Mbps) and this is the key feature for this new model. We show more details of E3272 below and reveal whether the acquisition of the mobile travel companion is worthy.

LTE features and characteristics of Huawei E3272

Compatible Operating Systems Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7+8, Mac OS (above 10.4)

Huawei unveiled the device for more than one year; it is easy to find shop online for Huawei E3272. Now it’s already available for many European operators.

From the appearance, we can see huawei E3272 is not similar to E3276, which has a rotatable USB, while E3272 is a compact USB. Users should not be blinded by the lower model number after the “E”. For Huawei means, confusingly, higher is not always new. User might think that the technology department rolls this out for the marketing department.

The most important is that we can benefit from Huawei sticks. Huawei E3272 supports the frequencies 800, 900, 1800, 2100 and 2600 MHz – hence the E3272 could work with all major providers in Europe areas. With unlocked Huawei E3272, user can travel to Middle East and Asia. As already indicated, the LTE modem is compatible with LTE Category 4, which can be achieved download speeds of up to 150 Mbps and upload speed up to 50 Mbps. In addition, the Huawei E3272 is backward with all relevant previous mobile radio standards (3G/2G). If located not at LTE coverage area, your device automatically switches to the next best technology, such as UMTS or HSDPA.

A key difference for E3272 and E3276 is the built-chipset. Here Huawei E3272 relies on a HiSilicon Balong 710 (V7R1). Also new is a “HiLink” mentioned technology, which we introduce the following short.

“HiLink” hides an innovation from Huawei, which aims to accelerate the start-up and thus to connect to the Internet enormously. After plugging in, as promised by the manufacturer, Configuration shall be unnecessary and it is online only 15 seconds. 15 seconds is for driver auto installation, setup, and connection! This is a small revolution in fact. Our editorial team has already taken several tests with various sticks, such as ZTE, in the past. Some devices need only  install the software for up to 15 minutes, followed by complex configuration and excruciatingly long load times if necessary. Now it is finally turned to the Web Interface. This means installing extra software is no longer necessary – the operation easily handled via the browser, so as the Huawei E3272. However, “HiLink” is not a novelty from the E3272. Various predecessors already had the feature.

One criticism, however, is still there. While many other models of Huawei have a swiveling USB port, which proved to be user-friendly, but Huawei E3272 is unfortunately missing this feature. When used in conjunction with a laptop, user has to connect the E3272 via USB extension cable.

The E3272 is a rock solid LTE stick, which is technically on the amount of time. Those who does not need a Wi-Fi hotspot, can safely access via E3272. The relatively low price convinced. Significant innovations and improvements are attractive.

How to Update Huawei E398 Firmware

Difference between ZTE MF831 and MF823

ZTE MF831 is the new 4G LTE Wireless modem which supports TDD & FDD networks. It’s a LTE Category 4 Internet USB Stick, which support peak download speed up to 150Mbps on FDD network and upload speed to 50Mbps. Since we had introduced the predecessor ZTE MF823 USB Stick, what’s the difference between the two sticks? Today, we will have a look at the difference between them.

Dimension 90×28.4×13mm 90×28.4×13mm

From the blank, we can see ZTE MF831 and MF823 are in the same dimension. ZTE MF831 is the upgraded version of ZTE MF823. MF831 is LTE Category 4 Stick which supports peak download speed to 150mbps, and it’s first ZTE LTE Cat4 Stick. With the support TDD network, ZTE MF831 could work well with more network providers. It supports more LTE Bands than MF823, and data rate speed is almost 1.5 times than MF823.

They are both compatible with 3G UMTS 900/2100MHz networks; with DC-HSPA+ technology, they could reach peak download speed to 42mbps. When LTE networks are not available, they would automatically switch to UMTS network to get the reliable network with fastest speed. But ZTE MF831 support upload speed to 11Mbps while MF823 supports 5.76Mbps.

However, it seems there is no external antenna connector in MF831, while MF823 has two external antenna connectors which will be more useful for MIMO connection. They both support microSD storage card expandable to 32GB. And they can both works with the latest operation system: Win7, Windows XP, Vista, Win8, Mac OS etc..

So ZTE MF831 is better with upgraded function, but if you want the 4G datacard with antenna connector, MF823 seems to be the right model.

How to unlock Netgear 341u Aircard

Netgear Aircard 341u is a latest new 4G USB Modem; it follows its predecessors Sierra Aircard 320u and 330u in appearance. But after Netgear acquired the Sierra Wireless Aircards, Netgear didn’t change the body design, the good news is that there is improvement on the application. There is LED screen which will help user read more information about the connection status about the Aircard, which is much more user-friendly than Aircard 330u and 320u.

However, since Netgear 341u is presented to public by US operator Sprint, the Aircard 341u is locked to its network and can’t use other providers’ SIM cards or roam over the world. So if you want to use the Netgear Aircard 341u with other SIM cards, or take the Aircard 341u with you to overseas, it’s necessary to unlock the 341u. But many people don’t know how to unlock it. Netgear Aircard 340u (AT&T Beam) Features

Even though the 4G LTE was becoming the hot topic from last year in new trend, when we talk about some 4G terminals, the first expression is that it’s too old. Yes, since more and more 4G equipments are presented to public, the first generation 4G devices seems to be out of time and it’s the time for new gadgets.

As the important ISP in USA, AT&T is in the first batch operators who deployed 4G networks and launched to commerce. Some contractor with AT&T may know the wireless datacard Sierra Aircard 313u, but they may not know the new Aircard Netgear 340u, the new generation 4G USB Stick. With the new chipset, performance and optimized function, Netgear 340u could fully replace the Aircard 313u.

That’s why we say Sierra Aircard 313u is old. We are not sure whether Sierra Aircard is end of life, but now it’s the time for Netgear aircard 340u. The Aircard 340U is available for AT&T and named AT&T Beam. Today, we will have a look at what is upgraded on Aircard 340.

Chipset

As the core part of a 4G Aircard, the chipset decides how the aircard works and perform, and stability. The aircard 313u is with Qualcomm chipset MDM9200, the Netgear 340u is based on Qualcomm MDM9215 and chipset. The MDM9215 is the new generation chipset with better efficiency than 313u chipset MDM9200.  MDM9215 is optimized on the power consumption and data processing.

Supported 4G Frequency Bands
