Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017) Smartphone Test

The Samsung Galaxy A3 has been popular in many countries for some time now, it is one of the very few small and handy Android smartphones with current equipment. What used to be the “mini-versions” of the big Galaxy S models today is the Galaxy A3 series, because a Galaxy S7 mini or a Galaxy S8 mini does not exist. With its 4.7-inch display and quite compact dimensions, the Galaxy A3 is well-suited for single-handed operation. In February, Samsung has already launched the third generation of the A series on the market, the Galaxy A3 (2017). In the test, the device will show whether it is as recommendable as its predecessors.

Appearance

The 2017 version of the Samsung Galaxy A3 comes considerably more rounded than the 2016 version. The Galaxy A3 (2016) is almost more modern compared to the Galaxy A3 (2017), although it is a generation older. Samsung provides a very high level of materials and processing, in the A3 (2017) front and rear made of glass and a matt metal frame. Speaking of color: Samsung sells the Galaxy A3 (2017) in the colors sky- black, sand-gold, blue-mist and cloud-peach, or simply black, gold, blue and pink.

The dimensions are 135.4 x 66.2 x 7.9 millimeters and the A3 is 138 grams heavier. The back is rounded to the sides, so that the device is comfortable in the hand. The display glass is also slightly rounded (2.5D glass). On the right is the power button, on the left are the two volume buttons. All buttons provide a very good pressure point. At the bottom of the device is a USB Type C connector, as well as the 3.5mm audio connector and a microphone. The second microphone for noise suppression is placed on the top, where you can also find the slot for the Nano SIM card and the optional MicroSD memory card. On the front you can find the home button, which also has a fingerprint sensor integrated.

In addition to the Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017), there is also a white plug-in power supply (without quick-charging function), a white USB to USB type C cable for charging and data transmission, and a simple headset, also in white. In addition to the usual paperwork, there is also a small tool for opening the SIM card slot.

Hardware and software

The display of the Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017) is 4.7 inches in the diagonal (16: 9 aspect ratio). The resolution is no longer quite modern with 1280 x 720 pixels (HD), but in the daily use does not disturb and there are still advantages such as the good maximum brightness and the accurate color representation. Only in direct comparison with a full-HD smartphone, the low pixel density is negative. The comparatively low resolution benefits the battery runtime: the Galaxy A3 (2017) with its 2.350 mAh strong battery runs for 2 days with normal use in any case, with little use probably even longer. And the battery cannot be changed.

Samsung has provided a 1.6 GHz Octa core processor for the Galaxy A3 (2017), which has 2 GB of RAM (RAM) available. The internal user memory is very narrow with 16 GB, especially since only about 10 gigabytes are available for free. Luckily, you can use MicroSD memory card for memory upgrade.

The Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017) supports WLAN according to the standards 802.11a/b/g/n/ac to 2.4 GHz and even to 5GHz, which is great for a smartphone for entry class. Also NFC and Bluetooth 4.2 are on board, as well as the support for various satellite navigation systems. LTE is supported on all frequency bands that are important for Europe (800, 850, 900, 1800, 1900, 2100, 2300 and 2600 MHz). The device is also well suited for occasional travel to other continents.

As an operating system, Android is used in version 6.0.1, an update to Android 7.0 seems to be currently under development and is likely to reach the Galaxy A3 (2017) in any case. The user interface is appealing and offers a lot of settings. In addition, the test proved positive that the system reacts very quickly and opens apps quickly. For the first set-up, it is best to schedule a few minutes more to configure the phone as your preference, as some menus are deeply hidden in the settings.

The Always On Display was particularly good in the test. This was introduced in 2016 with the Galaxy S7 and is now also available in Galaxy A series. If the display is switched off, the time and some additional information such as received WhatsApp messages are displayed. Thanks to AMOLED display technology, the energy consumption is very limited, in the test it was about 10% per 24 hours.

Camera

In the camera, Samsung uses a 13 megapixel sensor, which operates at full resolution in the 4: 3 aspect ratio. If you prefer the 16: 9 format, a maximum of 9.6 megapixels are available. The aperture is up to f1.9 and an autofocus as well as an LED flash is also available. Videos are available in full HD 1080p. The front camera offers 8 megapixels and also f1.9 aperture. The image quality of the back camera is good, but not outstanding. In good light, the recordings are very nice, especially macro pictures can be seen. In dark environments, the image quality of the camera is not quite as good, but still adequate and the price is definitely appropriate.

Conclusion: Recommended!

Samsung has consistently developed the Galaxy A3 in the 2017 version. The high-quality materials and the good workmanship are particularly impressive. Also the performance of the smartphone was very good in the test, the operation worked just as smoothly as with much more expensive upper-class smartphones. Good, but not outstanding are the camera and the display quality to evaluate. Overall, the Samsung Galaxy A3 (2017) is highly recommended. The price-performance ratio is great; you can get a handy and compact Android smartphone at a fair price!

Of course, Samsung also provide many higher lever smartphones such as Galaxy C5, Galaxy S6, Galaxy C9. If you want to check more Samsung Smartphones, welcome to check http://www.4gltemall.com/4g-lte-smartphone/samsung-4g-smartphone.html

Samsung Presented New Flagship Galaxy S8 and S8+

Samsung today introduced its two new flagship smartphones Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+ for the year 2017. The Galaxy S7 Edge gets two successors, which differ mainly by the display size: the Galaxy S8 has a 5.8 inch display while the Galaxy S8+ has a 6.2 inch display. Both the display of the S8 and the S8+ is rounded on both sides, a version without edge display is no longer available. The highlight is certainly the almost frameless design of the Samsung Galaxy S8, the display occupies nearly the entire front, the frames above and below the display are significantly thinner compared to the Galaxy S7. It’s said the Galaxy S8 would be available in the market at the end of April 2017.

Design and display

Visually, the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the Samsung Galaxy S8+ differ only in size. The S8 dimensions are 148.9 x 68.1 x 8.0 millimeters and weight is 152 grams, the S8+ dimensions are 159.5 x 73.4 x 8.1 millimeters and weighs 173 grams. The display has an aspect ratio of 18.5: 9 on both devices, so the devices are very narrow compared to 16: 9 devices with the same display diagonal. For comparison: an iPhone 7 with 4.7 inch display (16: 9) is only 0.8mm narrower than a Galaxy S8 with 5.8 inch display.

The design is broadly similar to that of the Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S7 Edge, the device consists largely of glass, only the frame is made of metal. However, due to the large display, the home button has given way to software buttons and the fingerprint sensor has been placed on the back side of the camera.

Technology and software

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is one of the first smartphones to support LTE Category 16. This allows extremely high speeds to be reached via the mobile network, depending on the extent of the network up to 1 Gbit/s in the downlink. As a processor, there is a octa-core Samsung Exynos 8895 with 64Bit, 4 x 1,7 GHz and 4 x 2,3 GHz. In other markets a Qualcomm chipset is installed, the performance should be comparable. The memory is 4 GB and the internal memory measures 64 GB (UFS 2.1 technology, via MicroSD expandable). The Galaxy S8 have versions with single sim and dual SIM functionality for different markets and carriers, the sim type is Nano-SIM.

The back camera of the Samsung Galaxy S8 offers a resolution of 12 megapixels and has an f1.7 aperture. The sensor works in the 4: 3 format, who would rather take photos in the 16: 9 format, has to deal with a lower resolution. The camera on the front takes photos with up to 8 megapixel resolution and also offers a f1.7 aperture.

In the WLAN area, the Galaxy S8 offers a very modern equipment. The 802.11ac standard is supported with MU-MIMO antenna technology, in combination with a modern MU-MIMO router, you should get significant speed advantages. The Galaxy S8 also supports NFC and Bluetooth 5.0 as well as various satellite navigation systems.

As an operating system, Android is used in version 7.0, of course again with a Samsung-adapted surface. The always-on display has been adapted in such a way that a home button is also visible when the display is switched off, since the physical home button has been lost in comparison with its predecessor.

Battery

The Samsung Galaxy S8 has – like the Galaxy S8+ – a permanently installed battery, which cannot be removed. The capacity is at the S8 3.000 mAh, while in the S8+, it is 3,500 mAh. The two devices support wireless fast charging as well as fast charging via the USB type C connector. By the way: in contrast to the Apple iPhone 7, Samsung Galaxy S8 does not have the 3.5mm audio jack connection, so you can use normal headphones and is not dependent on adapter or Bluetooth.

Price and availability

The two versions of the Samsung Galaxy S8 can be pre-ordered from now on and until the 19th of April in the Samsung Online-Shop as well as www.4gltemall.com . From the 28th of April, the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ will be available in the colors “Arctic Silver”, “Midnight Black” and “Orchid Gray”.

Huawei P10 and P10 Plus Difference

At the end of February 2017, Huawei presented the two new smartphones Huawei P10 and Huawei P10 Plus at the MWC. Only a few days later, the two phones are already available at first dealers. We already had the opportunity to take the Huawei P10 in our hand and to test briefly, in this article I would like to describe our first impression of the Huawei P10 and, of course, a short overview of the technical data. In addition, we share the images from Huawei about the new phone, in which it presents you the details of the Huawei P10 and also the differences between P10 and P10 Plus!

Huawei P10

The Huawei P10 would be available soon in the colors black, blue, silver and gold. We could see the gold version; this version left a very positive impression. The body is completely gold, a visible frame is not available through the metal design. The display glass is slightly rounded to the sides, which makes the device very handy. It’s in extremely strong similarity to the Apple iPhone 7, which is the first expression when hand the phone. But this should not be a disadvantage, because like the iPhone, the P10 can convince with its case on full line and even offers some advantages: there is a 3.5mm headphone connector and the camera is completely integrated in the case. Nice detail: the power button is red colored like the predecessor Huawei Nova and looks particularly beautiful in connection with the gold case.

The internal memory of the Huawei P10 is 64 GB and can be expanded with a MicroSD memory card, the memory measures 4 GB. As a processor, the HiSilicon Kirin 960 is used, the same model is already used in the Huawei Mate 9. Of course, again, a fast LTE modem is on board, according to Huawei, LTE category 11 is supported, ie up to 600 MBit/s in the downlink and up to 50 MBit/s in the uplink.

The battery of the Huawei P10 is 3,200 mAh large and cannot be changed by the user, which is very common for current flagship smartphone. Huawei supplies a power supply with quick charge function so that the battery can be recharged very quickly. As a connection for charging and data transfer, USB Type C is used, wireless charging function is not available in the Huawei P10.

Huawei P10 Plus

The Huawei P10 Plus is larger than the P10: 153.5 x 74.2 x 6.98 mm are the dimensions, compared to 145.3 x 69.3 x 6.98 mm for the P10. Moreover, it is about 165 grams heavier than the P10. The reason for the larger dimensions is the 5.5 inch display with 2560 x 1440 pixels, while the P10 “only” offers a 5.1 inch display with 1920 x 1080 pixels. The processor is the same as the P10, but the memory is somewhat larger with 6 GB and also the internal memory space is 128 GB twice as large as the P10.

The 12 megapixel dual camera of the Huawei P10 Plus is slightly better than the P10, which applies to both the front and the rear. So the P10 Plus has a f1.8 aperture, so more light should be on the sensor than with the f2.2 aperture of the P10. The 8 megapixel front camera of the P10 Plus also offers an autofocus, but the P10 is only a fixed focus. As with the predecessor model Huawei P9, the camera was developed in cooperation with the German company Leica. In a first test, the quality of the P10 camera in bright environments was very good, but in dark environments, the effect is not as good as expected.

Below are the main difference between Huawei P10 and P10 Plus:

Huawei Present Mate 9 New Smartphone With Leica Dual Camera

Huawei presented the new smartphone Huawei Mate 9 a few days ago, with a huge 5.9 inch display and a dual camera, developed with Leica. As the successor of the Huawei Mate 8, Huawei Mate 9 follows the design of Mate 8 and no big change. Technically speaking, Huawei is using state-of-the-art technology, so the new HiSilicon Kirin 960 Octa-Core processor is used. The modem allows speeds of up to 600 MBit/s in the downlink based on LTE category 12. Highlight is the camera with two sensors and hybrid zoom. In addition, a Porsche Design Edition of the Huawei Mate 9 with Curved AMOLED Display was presented.

huawei-mate-9-2

Metal body with 2.5D glass

The Huawei Mate 9 has a metal body and is offered in the colors Space Gray, Moonlight Silver, Champagne Gold, Mocha Brown, Ceramic White and Black. Above and below, a thin plastic strip is visible instead of metal in order to optimize the performance of the mobile radio antennas. The glass above the display is rounded to the sides, which is also called 2.5D glass.

The display is 5.9 inches in size and provides a full-HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels). Compared to the competition, display resolution is somewhat lower but come to the battery, the runtime to good.

huawei-mate-9-7

Android 7 and EMUI 5

Before we take a closer look at the hardware of the Huawei Mate 9, we have a few words about the software. Huawei delivers the Mate 9 with the latest version of Android 7, along with the well-known Huawei EMUI user interface, which, in addition to a different design compared to original Android, offers significantly more functions. On the Mate 9, EMUI version 5 is being used for the first time, which has been improved compared to the current version 4.1 and is to be more efficient and even easier to use.

huawei-mate-9-6

Leica Dual Camera

Like the Huawei P9, the Huawei Mate 9  comes thus with a dual camera that was developed in cooperation with Leica. This time, however, this is the second generation of the technology, which is equipped with a hybrid zoom. The backside main camera has two sensors installed: a 20 megapixel monochrome sensor and a 12 megapixel color sensor. For fast focusing, a hybrid autofocus and an optical image stabilizer to prevent blurred pictures. Videos can record in 4K resolution through the back camera, and the LED flash is two-color.

The front camera of the Huawei Mate 9 has a resolution of up to 8 megapixels and also has an autofocus.

huawei-mate-9-5

Fast processor and LTE Cat12

The Mate 9 is the first Huawei smartphone to be with the new HiSilicon Kirin 960 chipset. The SoC is the first with ARM Cortex A73 processor architecture and Mali G71 graphics core and is to score at a very good performance in comparison to the competition from Apple, Qualcomm and Mediatek. The processor offers four cores each with a maximum of 2.4 GHz clock rate for high-performance applications and an additional 4x 1.8 GHz cores for energy-saving work. The working memory is 4 gigabytes in size for the Mate 9.

huawei-mate-9-1

The radio modules are also equipped with the latest technology. In addition to Bluetooth 4.2, the Mate 9 also supports NFC and WLAN 802.11ac on 2.4 and 5 Gigahertz. The LTE modem of the Huawei Mate 9 operates at speeds of up to 600 Mbps in the downlink, while the following LTE frequency ranges are supported for worldwide use:

* FDD LTE band 1 / B2 / B3 / B4 / B5 / B7 / B18 / B19 / B12 / B26 / B28 / B29

* TDD LTE band 38 / B39 / B40 / B41

Dual SIM version available

Huawei will offer the Mate 9 in a single SIM version and a dual SIM version. Both versions come with 64 gigabytes of internal memory and can be extended by MicroSD memory card by up to 2 terabytes, the dual SIM version allows, however, the use of a second Nano-SIM card instead of the MicroSD memory card. The dual SIM version is a so-called hybrid slot, which does not allow the simultaneous use of MicroSD and two SIM cards.

huawei-mate-9-3

Exclusive: Porsche Design Version

In addition to the “normal” Mate 9, Huawei also introduced a Porsche Design Edition. This is not only twice as expensive, but also offers a different design and other technology. Thus, a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with qHD resolution is used, which is rounded at the sides – just as you would know from the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge. The memory is also 6GB slightly larger than the normal Mate 9 and there is a separate hardware home button, which is displayed only by software in the display in the normal device. The Porsche Design Edition will remain exclusive due to the extremely high price and sales exclusively through Porsche Design Stores.

huawei-mate-9-4

Prices and availability

The Huawei Mate 9 is now available in 4GLTEMALL.com online store. We offer the dual SIM version. In addition to the usual accessories such as charging adapters and headphones, you will also find a protective cover. The Huawei Mate 9 in the Porsche Design Edition will be sold from the end of December 2016 in Porsche Design Stores.

Huawei Nova – New Smartphone in Test

At the IFA 2016 in Berlin, Huawei presented the Nova. The mid-class smartphone is intended to offer a very good equipment at a moderate price, which would be expected in the upper class. The basic data: a 5 inch full-HD display, a high-quality metal body, Octa-Core processor, 3GB RAM and 12 megapixel camera with 4K video recording. The Huawei Nova is also one of the medium size phones in current Android smartphones and would like to appeal especially to users; many other current devices are too large.

huawei-nova-5

Smart and high quality

The Huawei Nova is delivered in a smart cardboard box. The foil, in which the nova is wrapped up, gives some initial information about setting up and using the SIM card format. In addition to the smartphone, you will also find a power supply unit with USB connection (output: 5V / 2A) as well as a USB Type C cable, which can be used both for charging and data transmission. A simple stereo headset is also included.

huawei-nova-4

When I first had the Huawei nova in my hand, I was directly taken by the handy and high-quality case. The device consists largely of metal and is rounded to the sides. The display glass is also very rounded (“2.5D glass”) and is therefore not only chic, but also beautiful to touch. Maybe the nova with its 5 inch display is a little too small for some users, but for most users, it would be a good compromise of display size and handiness. A small detail is the nova often noticed: the power button is the only button on the edge with a thin red strip, which looks very beautiful according to the angle of view.

huawei-nova-6

Highlight: the display!

Besides the successful design, the display is the absolute highlight for me at Huawei Nova. It is a 5 inch IPS display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The representation is extremely sharp and the colors are very lively. Due to the slight rounding to the edge and by the very good luminosity, the display sometimes appears as printed. By comparison with expensive high-end smartphones like the Apple iPhone 6s, Huawei Nova is still very compatitive!

Thanks to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 Octa-Core processor and 3GB memory, the operation is very smooth and fast – just as you would imagine. The nova is still based on Android 6, but an update to Android 7 will probably follow soon. I like the EMUI user interface very much personally, because it offers significantly more functions in contrast to the “pure” Android and comes without App Drawer, ie the individual app icons are stored on the start screens.

huawei-nova-9

The unlocking of the display is secure and reliable thanks to the fingerprint sensor attached to the back. Now, of course, you can argue about whether a fingerprint sensor should be positioned on the front or on the back of a smartphone, but I personally find the sensor with the Nova on the back useful and practical.

Basically, I was very satisfied with the software on the Huawei Nova as I said, a negative point I have found in the Huawei EMUI 4.1 UX however: contacts cannot be filtered so that only contacts with telephone number are represented. So I have some contacts in my Google Account, which are stored only with e-mail address, which I would not listed in my Smartphone telephone book. Other smartphones – including older Huawei smartphones – offer this filter option, here Huawei should update to fix it.

huawei-nova-11

Good camera with 4K video recording

The two cameras of the Huawei nova are widely advertised and are to score with a good picture quality as well as a large range of functions.

The rear-view camera offers a resolution of 12 megapixels in a 4: 3 aspect ratio, and it does not stand out from the case, but fits seamlessly into the glass cover, which also incorporates an LED flash and the NFC antenna. Compared to other current mid-class smartphones, the picture quality can really be seen, not only in sufficient (daylight) light, but also in darker environments. The images are sharp and colors are displayed naturally. If you want to get more out of the camera, you just have to leave the automatic mode and then you can make various settings in professional mode. This includes, for example, the ISO value or the trip time. With a tripod you can for example also easily realize long-term exposures. The operation of the camera software is basically very simple and uncomplicated and in addition to the professional mode, there are many other functions, such as for panoramic, HDR or slow motion shooting.

huawei-nova-12

The following photos were taken with the back camera of Huawei Nova. Clicking on the picture opens the original photo. Tip: best open in a new browser tab!

hdr

The Huawei nova together with the sister device nova Plus is the first Huawei smartphone, which can record video in 4K UHD resolution. Up to now, Huawei devices could record a maximum of 1080p (Full HD). However, you have to configure this in the settings, because the device is only set to 720p HD.

huawei-nova-1

The front camera has a resolution of 8 megapixels in the 4: 3 aspect ratios and is very good for selfsies. The picture quality is good and the software gives you various possibilities to influence “your own appearance”. For example, you can use a slider in 10 steps to adjust how much the image should be “after-treated”. The higher grades seem to me very artificial.

What I do not like is that both the frontcam and the rear camera are the 4: 3 image format of the sensors. Rather, the images are viewed directly on the smartphone display (16: 9 format), the PC screen (16: 9) or the TV (also 16: 9), but you have a black bar every time. Sure, you can adjust the image format manually in the settings, but then the full resolution of the sensor is not used and you have a smaller image section available.

LTE Cat7 with 300 MBit/s

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset in the Huawei nova is a so-called SoC (system on a chip). In addition to the processor, further chipsets such as the modem are integrated. The modem is a Qualcomm Snapdragon X9, which supports not only GSM and UMTS with up to 42.2 Mbps but also LTE of category 7. With a suitable tariff, up to 300 MBit/s can be reached in the downlink, uplink theoretically up to 150 MBit/s are possible. The high LTE speed is made possible by the carrier aggregation technology, also known as channel bundling. This channel bundle can even be switched off in the settings of the Huawei nova – but there is no reason for the shutdown possibility.

huawei-nova-10

The reception in my test was perfect, especially in the LTE network around 1800 megahertz, which is extensively developed. The Huawei nova is also available in a dual SIM version. Network operators and service providers, on the other hand, offer the single SIM version, which has also been used for this test. In the case of the dual SIM version, you have to decide between the use with two Nano SIM cards and the use of a MicroSD memory card, because memory card and second Nano SIM use the same slot. Also note: only one of the two SIM cards can be used with UMTS and LTE, the other card is limited to 2G/GSM.

The voice quality in the telephone was perfect, both directly at the ear as well as over the integrated loudspeaker. The loudspeaker is also good for music playback, it provides a loud and clear sound, without overstepping.

huawei-nova-7

Of course, the Huawei nova also supports WLAN, but unfortunately only in the frequency range by 2.4 gigahertz. In the meantime, the support for dual-band WLAN in the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequency range along with the current radio standard 802.11 ac would have been the case here for a high-level smartphone.

Battery pack

The battery in my test with normal to strong use always lasts a whole day, often even a little longer. For a full two days of use, it will be a bit tight, but for most users, the smartphone comes anyway every night, so the Huawei nova with its 3020 mAh capacity is definitely well equipped!  By the way, the USB type C plug eliminates the usual trouble with the connection, since the plug can be plugged in both directions, which one very fast to appreciate.

Conclusion

Huawei Nova could become a huge success for Huawei since compact smartphones are in high demand and the choice of such devices is manageable. The nova is perfectly processed, is very good in the hand and offers a very good price-performance ratio. In particular, the display and the camera are convincing and could be installed in a more expensive premium-class smartphone.
It’s a pity that Huawei nova doesn’t support for WLAN in the 5 GHz frequency range and WLAN ac radio standard. Sometimes you may want the camera a slightly faster release time. At least the latter can might be improved through a firmware update in the future.

Actually, there is another mobile smartphone from huawei at the same level to Huawei nova: Honor 8. This provides even a little better equipment, however, is also slightly larger and has a glass back, so is more vulnerable to falls. If you want to know more Huawei new smartphones, welcome to check here: http://www.4gltemall.com/4g-lte-smartphone/huawei-4g-smartphone.html

Huawei Honor 8 New Smartphone Available

At an event in Paris a few days ago, Huawei launched its new flagship smartphone Honor 8 for the European market. The predecessor Honor 7 has good price-performance ratio and is now available at good price now in www.4gltemall.com. The Honor 8 was sold in China for several weeks. Highlights of the new Honor 8 include the completely new design with 2.5D glass both on the front and on the back, and the 12-megapixel dual camera, which is already known in the Huawei P9.

huawei-honor-8-3

New design with lots of glass

The Honor 7 was still a massive metal back and a flat glass display cover on the market. The successor Honor 8 provides glass surface on both sides, which is toward slightly rounded at the sides. Thus, the device is expected to be better in the hand and no more act as edgy. The frame is further comprised of metal.

The Honor 8 is available in the colors Midnight Black, Pearl White and Sapphire Blue. All three colors are both on the front and on the back side visible and also the frame is colored accordingly, so that one has a uniform appearance.

huawei-honor-8-1

Good equipment

The Honor 8 is quite similar to the Huawei P9 technically. Most likely is that visible on the rear dual camera, this has resolution of 12 megapixels and allow good shots particularly. One sensor is an ordinary RGB color sensor; the other is a monochrome sensor.

Again on board is the dual SIM function and the ability to expand the internal 32GB memory with a MicroSD memory card. As a processor, HiSilicon Kirin 950 octa-core is used, which runs at up to 2.3GHz per core and is equipped with 4 GB of memory. There is also an i5 coprocessor, which provides, in certain applications for acceleration. The Wi-Fi works on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, and besides GSM and UMTS, Honor 8 supports LTE networks.

huawei-honor-8-2

The LCD display of Honor 8 is 5.2 inches and has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels (Full HD). And a fast fingerprint sensor on the back has been integrated again. Another new feature is the NFC functionality, even if a Secure Element for secure payments sadly lacking. The integrated battery is 3,000 mAh strong. The Honor 8 can charge to 50% within 30 minutes via the integrated USB Type C port.

huawei-honor-8-4

The Honor 8 is available on www.4gltemall.com now. As a new mobile phone with new features, it is significantly more expensive than the Honor 7.However, the price-performance ratio is very good if you compare the specifications of Honor 8 with those of similar expensive competing products.

Huawei Released a New P9 Plus Smartphone

With so many great phones on the market in all price ranges, it’s now much easier to buy a mobile smartphone then past years. However, it is more challenging than ever to be a mobile manufacturer. What are customers really want? This drives the Chinese manufacturer Huawei hard, and Huawei presents new smartphone time to time to meet the requirements from customers. Now Huawei released Huawei P9 with P9 Plus. We tested exactly new Huawei P9, but now we will look into the P9 Plus.

Huawei P9 Plus (5)

The difference between the two phones is significantly larger than its name would suggest. Like all Plus models, the P9 Plus also has larger screen than “original”, but it is not the only difference between the two phones. Huawei P9 Plus model also has an AMOLED display instead of LCD IPS which is found in the smaller edition.

However, in real use, we can’t notice much difference. The solution is similar, and both phones are doing okay with Full HD. We would like to see even sharper performance, and the black levels are perhaps even better on AMOLED variety.

Huawei P9 Plus (3)

What we notice is the design. The standard version of P9 comes in aluminum with light or dark. It’s pretty enough, and looks like the market is dominated by metal phones. Frankly speaking, Huawei P9 Plus is probably the prettiest phone I’ve seen.

Phones are becoming increasingly interesting on designs, whether Edge screens from Samsung, or the completely borderless screens on Sharp phones. The usual square has become a bit boring. P9 Plus is extremely thin, but weighs a little in hand. It has big screen, but is compact in hand. And the dual cameras on the back, as well as the narrow scope, which makes it little doubt that this is a new phone.

Huawei P9 Plus (7)

When we tested  Apple’s iPhone 6S last time, we got acquainted with the touch screen in the Apple universe called 3D Touch. Huawei has had a similar solution in their Huawei Mate S mobile phone for the Asian markets. We see clearly that there is benefit in this, or at least it can be. In sections what Huawei has added support for the solution seems both intuitive and clean. But it is far from objects that support additional hard pressure.

Huawei P9 Plus (6)

In most cases, the default browser is Google’s own Chrome for Android. When Samsung enclose the good old Android browser full of what they regard as their own improvements, there is no specific browser in Huawei P9 models. Now there are many changes that the manufacturers make to these browsers actually to make the user experience better, but the result of running a completely standard Chrome variant is that the touch screen does not have the full function in the browser. The function is straightforward where it works, but unlike the iPhone, it becomes too far from these places that we perceive it as a major advantage.

Huawei P9 Plus (4)

You will not find APP menus here, and the P9 Plus phone has different menu structure from many other Android phones both in setting menus and drop-down menus. It is still not difficult to use, and we have not noticed many bad translations venues throughout. Most are intuitive and nice.

In summary, Huawei P9 plus is a good smartphone but not perfect. It has all the features that can be expected and it’s a middle class smartphone for huawei new strategy. Whether the Huawei P9 Plus becomes a success, the market will tell.

Huawei P9 Smartphone Review

This year, Huawei unveiled two devices in the P-series, including the P9 as well as its larger version (P9 Plus). In this article I’ll tell you about Huawei P9, and talk about the Plus in the nearby material, to avoid confusion.

Huawei P9 (9)

Design, body materials, assembly

If you look at the new Huawei P9, you cannot find the differences from last year’s Huawei P8. In fact, here is of course difference. Hull shape is unchanged, but the front panel is now covered by a protective glass with the effect of 2.5D. “The back” and the sidewall is made of the metal, plastic is used only around the main camera and flash. We can say that the design of Huawei P9 chose the path of least resistance – took quite successful P8 and updated it with new fashion trends.

Huawei P9 (10)

Dimensions of the P9 are excellent with diagonal screen 5.2 inch, and the smartphone is convenient in terms of screen size, and body width comfortable in terms of grip. In my opinion, the format 5 ‘- 5.5’ ‘will remain optimal for at least another year.

The quality of the build is excellent even in the pre-production sample, I do not think to start selling there will be some problems.

Controls

As part of the management of the new P9, there is no different from last year’s model P8. In the lower area of the display, there are the onscreen touch keys. On the left edge, there are two NANO SIM trays or a “Sim” and microSD memory cards (combined) slot. On the right, the volume buttons and the power button are there.

Huawei P9 (1)

At the bottom end, the 3.5 mm mini-jack, loudspeaker, microphone and connector USB Type-C are in a line. As you can see, the Chinese manufacturers seem to express their solidarity with each other and begin to promote the new connector, one after another. The fingerprint sensor of Huawei P9 is located in the back, it’s below the cameras.

Huawei P9 (6)

Screen

The Huawei P9 set 5.2 ” screen with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels used IPS-matrix. The display is excellent, with maximum viewing angles, good color, also has the color temperature setting. Perhaps someone was waiting for Huawei Super AMOLED-use screen that Samsung has gradually begins to sell to manufacturers, but also IPS-matrix, if it is high-quality, still good. In the case of P9, we are talking about an excellent matrix, and there is nothing to find the fault except the screen, by the way, Huawei P9 Plus uses AMOLED-matrix.

Camera

The Huawei has conducted an experiment using two main chambers in the Honor 6 Plus, the new P9 idea is essentially the same.

Huawei P9 (13)

Regarding the camera, there are two 12 megapixel modules, F2.2 aperture, laser focus, the ability to manually select the aperture value in a wide range (software). In practice, you can get beautiful images. To be honest, I do not believe that the firmware is somehow better, but otherwise I liked the camera. Especially Huawei P9 focuses on the subject has a distance of 2 – 2.5 cm, for comparison, the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is about 3.5 cm, one of the best indicators.

The camera appeared full manual shooting mode with the ability to manually select the focus distance, and other parameters.

Huawei P9 (4)

However, in fact, Huawei P9 has an interesting feature on the camera, and the name is Leica. As noted in the company, Huawei P9 used Leica optics and proprietary algorithms, in other words, everything practically, created in conjunction with Leica camera except the interface.

Platform and Memory

Huawei P9 – the company’s first device based on the latest self-developed platform – HiSilicon Kirin 955. It is an eight-chip, quad-core Cortex-A53 clocked at 1.8 GHz and quad-core Cortex-A72 at a frequency of 2.5 GHz. In fact, Kirin 955 is upgraded from Kirin 950, which is used in the current flagship Huawei Mate 8.

Huawei P9 (12)

Huawei P9 will be available in two versions – 3 GB RAM and 32 GB ROM or 4 GB RAM and 64 GB ROM. In both cases, the memory can be added by installing one of the slots for microSD card and SIM-card.

Talking about the performance of the P9 so far, what I’ve seen for an hour acquaintance with the device in the office, leads us to expect a good, typical of the flagships of the speed.

Huawei P9 (2)

Conclusion

From the P7 to P8, Huawei continues to move in the right direction. New P9 is in fact a happy medium in the model range of the brand, which, as we can see, trying to go all the way like Samsung to some extent. The flagship P9 is a balanced, expensive smartphone with the highest within the range of parameters. In addition, for those who need a larger screen, P9 Plus is provided. One of the advantages is a good screen, great size, the body of metal, fashionable glass surround and nice jacket. In a summary, the Huawei P9 is a great middle class smartphone.

Huawei P9 New Flagship Smartphone Review

For several weeks, Huawei P9 new flagship smartphone is available in many countries. The device has powerful hardware, the latest software and a high-quality body and is thus in direct competition with devices such as the Apple iPhone 6s, the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the LG G5. Huawei P9 has an closed agreement with Leica, the German manufacturer is distinguished with responsibility for the back double-lens camera. What impression the Huawei P9 does and how it proposes compared to the competition, you can check this following report.

Huawei P9 Smartphone Review (1)

Body Appearance

The packaging is in high quality and perfectly adequate for a flagship, which you already know the concept possibly from Huawei Mate S or the Huawei Mate 8 , a data or charging cable is next to Huawei P9 (USB to USB Type C. ), a power adapter and a headset. There is of course a quick-start guide, further information and a small metal tool to open the SIM card slot.

The first impression of Huawei P9 is very good. The front is completely covered by glass, only the silver Huawei logo below the display, is immediately noticeable. The glass is rounded at the sides. The sides and back are made of metal, the surface is matte and feels very good. An inconspicuous plastic strip at the bottom acts as a cover for the mobile communication antenna. Overall, the device is quite comfortable to hold in spite of its enormous size.

Huawei P9 Smartphone Review (2)

I have received the Huawei P9 in the color “Mystic Silver” as a tester, the frame around the display is black and the back gray. As a second color variation is “Titanium Grey” is available here, the front is silver around the display, the back is white. Personally, I think the black version is much nicer.

Display and Software

The LCD display of Huawei P9 is 5.2 inches and has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels (Full HD). Other manufacturers offer at this diagonal already Quad HD resolutions, but the display of P9 also leaves as a very good impression. It’s sharp, bright and offers great color reproduction. An AMOLED panel instead of the built-in LCD would possibly be a little better, but in all P9 has a very good display.

Huawei P9 Smartphone Review (8)

The operating system of the Huawei P9 is Android in version 6.0 ( “marshmallow”) used. However, the user interface differs quite strongly from the “original Android” from, because Huawei has, like several previous smart phones, the so-called preinstalled Emotion UI. Most remarkable change to the original is certainly the lack of a separate app menus ( “App Drawer”), ie all app icons are to be found directly on the home screen. Of course you can simplified Apps into folders. I personally like the renunciation of an App Drawer, otherwise I find the EMUI very successful. Huawei has integrated many features which were not found in other manufacturers.

The design of the software on the Huawei P9 is indeed a little playful, but detailed and thoughtful. Huawei provides the ability to customize the device with themes according to personal taste. Unfortunately, the Huawei P9 provides no interesting features in diagnostic software. Although Huawei is one of the largest network-technology equipment, the P9 lacks a network monitor or the possibility for the device to choose specific network technologies or even frequency ranges. Such features are of course completely useless typical for the normal users, but quite interesting for professional, and from a company like Huawei, one may expected quite more in the direction.

Huawei P9 Smartphone Review (6)

Leica Dual Camera

The highlight of Huawei P9 is undoubtedly the back camera. The two cameras, because there are two lenses and two sensors, that is a true dual-camera. Unlike other flagship smartphones,  the lenses are out of the case, but have been fitted with a glass cover perfectly into the case. Besides the two lenses, which are arranged side by side, you can still find a dual-tone LED flash and the reference to the cooperation with Leica.

Before I say something to the picture quality, I would like to briefly even at the technical data. The maximum resolution of the camera sensors is 12 megapixels in 4: 3 format, so if you want to in 16: 9 format, so only 9 megapixels are possible. The visor is up to f2.2. The Huawei P9 can record videos, and of course, however, one is limited to 1080p (Full-HD) with 60fps. Other smartphones offer 4K video recording for years, which Huawei has waived in the P9.

Huawei P9 Smartphone Review (11)

The image quality of the photos is very good overall. The pictures are sharp and colors are natural. The release speed is very good. But I can not tell a real value by the two juxtaposed cameras – the images of other flagship smartphones such as the Samsung Galaxy S7 or the Apple iPhone 6s are not bad in most situations.

The operation of the camera software is not quite self-explanatory, an info window at the first camera-Start helps but at the orientation. There are many gadgets and opportunities for photo-editing, as filters and the ability to subsequently adjust the aperture. Overall, very interesting, but it is questionable in how far one uses such features then permanently. Photo enthusiasts will be happy on the professional mode, which allows various settings at about exposure and shutter speed.

Huawei P9 Smartphone Review (7)

Other Technology and Performance

The processor HiSilicon Kirin 955 octa-core chipset was built in Huawei P9. The performance is absolutely faultlessly under normal use, applications open without noticeable delay and even with intensive multitasking, no performance degradation can be detected. Even current games should run smoothly and without problems, which was however not verified for this review.

The internal memory when Huawei P9 is 32 gigabytes in size, an expansion with MicroSD memory card is possible. The main memory is 3 GB in size, perfectly adequate for everyday use and multitasking. Of course, Huawei has again incorporated a fingerprint sensor on the back of the smartphone. The sensor works – just as it did at the Huawei Mate 8 – extremely fast and reliable, just as one would expect.

The modem in Huawei P9 supports all current network standards including LTE Advanced Cat6 with speeds of up to 300 Mbit/s in the downlink and up to 50 Mbit/s in the uplink. Basically, Huawei does provide single or dual SIM version of P9. The reception was very good in the test, and the voice quality was flawless.

Huawei P9 Smartphone Review (3)

WLAN supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. This is a significant improvement over the previous model Huawei P8, which supports only 2.4GHz WiFi and was therefore unsuitable for many users. Also NFC is now at P9 on board, important and interesting for the connection to cameras, mobile speakers or even to pay.

battery pack

The battery power of Huawei has a capacity of 3,000 mAh. In the test I was able to achieve a battery life of about 2 days with normal use, which is quite a very decent value. Even with intensive use, it should allow a whole day without recharging definitely. Unfortunately, Huawei has waived a wireless charging function, so you have to absolutely charge wired. Thanks to USB Type C, plugging the charger cable is easy and simple, but you can not use old microUSB cable unfortunately.

Huawei P9 Smartphone Review (4)

Conclusion

The Huawei P9 is an interesting smartphone which can especially score with the good camera, great body with good workmanship and the good software. The device acts overall consistency and mature. The battery life is convincing and the display makes despite a very good impression dispensing with a QHD resolution. The absolutely perfect smartphone is missing many features, for example, Wireless Charging, Dual-SIM or a rounded display like the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge . But in all, Huawei P9 is a great smartphone which is the a pioneer for Huawei high level smartphone.

Huawei Honor 7 Premium Smartphone Review

The Honor 7 is still one of the best smartphones when you look at the price-performance ratio compared with other devices. It provides a sharp display, a metal case, a very fast processor and a brisk LTE modem with dual SIM function. From February 2016,  Honor 7 Premium is available now. This provides not only a golden color, but also more internal memory.

HONOR 7 (1)

New color and more memory

The Honor 7 Premium is largely identical to Honor 7, the design has no change. The Honor 7 Premium is offered in gold/white, normal Honor 7 contrast in gray/black and silver/white. The internal memory is now 32 gigabytes in size, with only a portion of it is available to the user, the operating system and pre-installed programs occupy a few gigabytes. By comparison, the standard version of Honor 7 has only 16GB of internal storage. Furthermore, of course, there is the possibility to use a microSD memory card to extend, but then no ability to use a second SIM card.

Another new feature is the Quick-charge power capable of Honor 7 Premium. According to the manufacturer, you can reach around 50% battery capacity in 30 minutes.

HONOR 7 (2)

Price and Availability

The Honor 7 Premium will be sold from May, 2016 Germany. The price is 449 USD without a contract and without SIM lock – so is the premium model in theory at least as expensive as the normal Honor 7. However, strong discounts for normal Honor 7 is available in recent times on www.4gltemall.com, so that if you can demand the smartphone, you will get much benefit from the discount. In reality, the Honor 7 Premium has no discount now. We suppose it would have lower price after three months.
