{"id":6736,"date":"2018-11-26T22:06:35","date_gmt":"2018-11-26T14:06:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.4gltemall.com\/blog\/?p=6736"},"modified":"2019-04-22T21:24:30","modified_gmt":"2019-04-22T13:24:30","slug":"huawei-5g-router-for-mmwave-and-c-band-released","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.4gltemall.com\/blog\/huawei-5g-router-for-mmwave-and-c-band-released\/","title":{"rendered":"Huawei 5G Router for mmWave and C-band Released"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At the Global Mobile Broadband Forum, Huawei announced the first modem routers (&#8220;CPE&#8221;) for the new 5G cellular standard.\u00a0The company has two devices in preparation, one for the C band (frequency range between 3.5 and 5 gigahertz) and one for the millimeter wave range between 26 and 28 gigahertz.\u00a0Although the two <a href=\"https:\/\/www.4gltemall.com\/5g\/5g-cpe.html\">5G routers<\/a> still have some drawbacks such as an enormous energy consumption to fight, yet it is likely to be the first commercially available 5G devices.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.4gltemall.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Huawei-5G-CPE-Router.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6740\" src=\"https:\/\/www.4gltemall.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Huawei-5G-CPE-Router.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"678\" height=\"391\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.4gltemall.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Huawei-5G-CPE-Router.jpg 678w, https:\/\/www.4gltemall.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Huawei-5G-CPE-Router-300x173.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 678px) 100vw, 678px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Huawei 5G router for C-band feature<\/h2>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<p>Compared to a current <a href=\"https:\/\/www.4gltemall.com\/4g-wireless-router.html\">LTE router<\/a> like <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.4gltemall.com\/huawei-b618-lte-cat11-router.html\">Huawei B618<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.4gltemall.com\/5g\/5g-cpe\/huawei-5g-router.html\">Huawei 5G WiFi router<\/a> for use in the C-band between 3.5 and about 5 GHz is quite large and heavy, but the first <a href=\"https:\/\/www.4gltemall.com\/5g.html\">5G devices<\/a> are safe to handle.<\/p>\n<p>According to the manufacturer, the Huawei 5G router should be equipped with two RJ45 Gigabit LAN ports and WLAN 802.11ac (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz).\u00a0The 5G C-Band Router is backward compatible with the 4G LTE standard and comes with a 2T4R antenna configuration, which\u00a0means: data can be received on four antennas while sent via two antennas.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.4gltemall.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Huawei-5G-CPE-Router4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6741\" src=\"https:\/\/www.4gltemall.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Huawei-5G-CPE-Router4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"810\" height=\"626\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.4gltemall.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Huawei-5G-CPE-Router4.jpg 810w, https:\/\/www.4gltemall.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Huawei-5G-CPE-Router4-300x232.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.4gltemall.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Huawei-5G-CPE-Router4-768x594.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 810px) 100vw, 810px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Huawei 5G router for mmWave feature<\/h2>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<p>The Huawei 5G router for the millimeter-wave frequency range between 26 and 28 gigahertz is visually hardly distinguishable from the sister model for the C-band.\u00a0But there is one important difference: millimeter waves can hardly or never enter buildings, so a line of sight to the 5G transmitter is required.\u00a0This is done by an outdoor unit (ODU) integrated with the entire modem technology.<\/p>\n<p>The indoor unit (IDU) features all the connections and the WLAN technology.\u00a0The indoor and outdoor units are connected via LAN cable, the power supply of the outdoor unit is realized via Power over Ethernet (PoE).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.4gltemall.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Huawei-5G-CPE-Router3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6742\" src=\"https:\/\/www.4gltemall.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Huawei-5G-CPE-Router3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"656\" height=\"388\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.4gltemall.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Huawei-5G-CPE-Router3.jpg 656w, https:\/\/www.4gltemall.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Huawei-5G-CPE-Router3-300x177.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 656px) 100vw, 656px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>High energy consumption from the Huawei 5G router<\/h2>\n<p>As can be seen on the data sheets shown above, both Huawei 5G devices have an enormous power consumption, at least under load.\u00a0The C-band model consumes up to 120 watts, while the mmWave model even up to 146 watts.
