Sony Xperia X New Smartphone Review

In addition to the mid-range smartphone Xperia XA, Sony has presented a high-end smartphone at MWC 2016 – the Sony Xperia X. The device is not the successor to the Sony Xperia Z5, but rather be complementary to this. The Xperia X comes with a 5-inch Full HD display and a 23 megapixel camera with predictive hybrid autofocus. Over the wireless network, Xperia X can use LTE-Advanced Cat7, up to 300 Mbit/s in the downlink and up to 100 Mbit/s in the uplink can be achieved. The Xperia X is clear to recognize as a Sony smartphone; the angular design with a flat back and two front speakers are already known by many other Xperia devices. Yet there are some changes in detail: the edges of the display glass are now rounded and the back is down very slightly bent to the sides. In the first test at the exhibition booth of Sony at MWC 2016, the Xperia X was thus somewhat better in the hand than previous Sony smartphones. The two colors Lime Gold and Rose Gold look fresh and were not available so far. Of course there are also the Xperia X classic colors black and white. The highlight of the Sony Xperia X is surely the back camera. This has a resolution of 23 megapixels and has a 1/2.3-inch sensor. The aperture is f2.0, also a wide-angle lens was installed. The predictive hybrid autofocus to ensure particularly fast focusing and thus sharp images. The video resolution seems (1920 x 1080 pixels) to be limited comically on Full HD, contemporary would here 4K/UHD. The camera on the front has a maximum resolution of 13 megapixels and also a wide-angle lens with f2.0, as in the main camera, there is also an image stabilizer ( “SteadyShot with Intelligent Active Mode”).

The modem of the Snapdragon 650’s Snapdragon X8 and data rates can reach up to 300 Mbit/s in the downlink and up to 100 MBit/s in the uplink via LTE-Advanced Cat7. This is possible by carrier aggregation for both the downlink and the uplink (up to 2 x 20 MHz). The internal memory of the Sony Xperia X is in 32 gigabytes, the working memory is 3 gigabytes. The operating system is Android 6.0, of course, with Sony UI. The memory is expandable with a microSDHC card. In the lateral power button, a fingerprint reader is integrated, as you already know it from the Sony Xperia Z5 series forth.
