Technology

From the appearance, it’s hard to find differences with the B2000. On the front body, there is Vodafone logo, however, on the back stock, we can find the it’s based on the new version of the B593 from Huawei, the label indicates the model is B593s-22. The most important innovation: The LTE modem can now also handle LTE category 4. Therefore, theoretically it can achieve data rates of 150Mbps. However, LTE CAT4 is currently only available in urban centers, i.e big cities with over 100 thousand residents.

Unfortunately, Wi-Fi with AC standard is not yet on the list of specifications. Users must therefore continue to take a maximum of 802.11n to be surf. What’s more, the B3000 provides 4 LAN ports on the back along with 2 USB ports.

Telephone and reception

Through two RJ11 jacks, analog telephones can be operated via VOIP. A SIP client is integrated. Since IP telephone with LTE for home is not a shortcoming, demanding users will however still rather resort to a Fritz box, as regards this point. In terms of wireless network compatibility, the B3000 could support all major LTE bands in Europe, including LTE FDD 800/900/1800/2100/2600MHz and TDD 2600MHz.

In addition, of course, it would work well with all relevant 3G and 2G predecessor standards, including the 3G data turbo DC-HSDPA+, which allowed data rates of up to 42.2 Mbit/s. The Vodafone B3000 doesn’t have SIM lock, so it can be used to beyond Germany or user can change provider to other network operators.

Availability

The first New customers will receive the B3000 since about April 2014. Now the Vodafone B3000 is available on www.4gltemall.com at good price. Since it’s already one year, here now there are more new LTE wireless routers available with new features, such as Vodafone B4000, Huawei E5186. If you want a router with future proof, you can check more details about the new LTE category routers.

Vodafone B3000 LTE Router Test

From the beginning of 2014, Vodafone has launched a new LTE Router Vodafone B3000 on the market, the successor to the B2000 LTE router, which had been tested last year. The biggest new feature is the improved speed of 150 megabits per second (LTE Category 4), which function is not available in the Vodafone B2000. I could look at the Vodafone B3000 router at CeBIT 2014 in more detail; you will find some photos of the B3000 in this article. The experience regarding reception quality and data rates based on the Huawei B593 4G Router, as the two devices are almost identical.

Scope of supply and technical data
The Vodafone B3000 LTE router is manufactured by Huawei and the corresponding model is B593s-22. As already talking about, extensive branding is used on the Vodafone B2000 and Vodafone B1000, which could be also clearly recognized on the B3000 as Vodafone device. For the user that has really no disadvantages, the functions are more or less unchanged. The Vodafone B3000 comes in a fancy box in the new Vodafone-design and the router can be found with a power cable and a short Ethernet cable. In addition, of course, there is still a quick-start guide and a safety instruction included.

On the back of Vodafone B3000 you will find various connections: there are 4 LAN ports, each operating at a maximum of 100 Mbit/s. In addition, there are two RJ-11 ports for analog phones and a USB 2.0 port. On the right side, a separate power switch is still attached to the left two buttons for WLAN / WPS circuit. The two telephone connections are available but only for VoIP telephone; telephone support through the mobile network (CS or VoLTE) is not available in the B3000 LTE Router.
Vodafone B3000’s internal WLAN module only works on 2.4 GHz and supports 802.11 b/g/n. The speed is depending on the distance to the router at about 90 Mbit/s, so that the full speed of LTE cannot be achieved here as well. The range of the wireless network is certainly absolutely sufficient for most users, on request, up to four separate SSIDs (network name) will be awarded.

Reception and data rates
With support for LTE Category 4, data rates up to 150 Mbit/s downlink and 50 Mbit/s in the uplink are theoretically possible with the Vodafone B3000. However, Vodafone is providing these data rates over LTE2600 currently available only in cities and at sites with very high data volumes, on widespread LTE800, Vodafone has so far only about 50 – 60 MBit/s in downlink. In general, the B3000 can also achieve these data rates, and allows quick and easy browsing, but a little “design flaw”. Unfortunately, there is neither over the WLAN module nor the LAN ports, the maximum speed of 150 Mbit/s is available. Of course, this is hardly relevant to a user.

The reception quality is good when measured. Even in regions with weak reception, good data rates are possible. Since the Vodafone B3000 router supported (LTE800, LTE1800 and LTE2600) all frequency bands used in Germany, the device is also quite future proof. Upon request, the receiving means of external antenna can be improved. For this purpose, two SMA connectors are located under a cover on the back of the router.

Conclusion
The Vodafone B3000 LTE is undoubtedly a good router, with which most users are likely very satisfied. However, there are also some weaknesses: the LAN ports only work with a maximum of 100 Mbit/s and the internet is not very fast. The consequence: it is impossible, the theoretical maximum speed of 150 Mbit/s to use them. If only for this reason, it is difficult to understand why Vodafone has brought the B3000 LTE Router at all on the market, while the Vodafone B4000 is already a much more powerful successor waiting in the wings. If you appreciate Gigabit LAN and WLAN radio technology, future-proof, should wait a little longer for the sequel, we will see Vodafone B4000 Later. .

Vodafone New 4G LTE Router B3000 Available In April

There have been rumors and speculation for long time that Vodafone and Telekom will be launching the next generation LTE router in the coming months. From April, Vodafone introduces new LTE Router B3000, the successor to the B2000.

On the back label of the Vodafone B3000, it indicates that this is another new Huawei router. It’s from the factory model Huawei B593s-22. The internal LTE modem (of Hisilicon) even supports LTE category 4 (Cat4). Thus stationary data transfer rates of up to 150 Mbit per second can be achieved. However, due to the network coverage, LTE Cat4 is not available in all the cities. It’s now only available in some specific center cities which requires large data transmission. Probably later this year, Vodafone will expand coverage of all cities with CAT4 that designate at least 100,000 inhabitants.

Otherwise, there are few significant differences compared to the previous models. The B3000 back has 4 LAN ports and two RJ11 connectors for telephone via VOIP. In addition, a USB port is available for printer or host sharing and two SMA sockets for special LTE antennas. The router is DLNA enabled.

So how about the 4G compatibility? At this point, there are fortunately no complaints. All popular bands are supported in Europe, including LTE 800, 1800 , 2100 and 2600MHz. Even LTE on 900 MHz can be supported by the B3000 theoretically. Per the original factory model Huawei B593s-22, it can also support the 4G TD-LTE frequency 2600MHz.

Availability and costs

Vodafone plans, which claims to introduce the B3000 in April. The surcharge for the business customer data tariffs is unique around 10 €. For private customers pay about 50 euros once. The B3000 router is already available as Huawei B593s-22 without a contract in the store 4gltemall.com . Tip: Huawei B593s-22 could fully replace Vodafone B3000 because it has the full functions as designed and no customization from operator.

Vodafone B3000 LTE Category 4 WiFi Router

The Vodafone B3000 LTE Router is available in stores now. The device is the successor to the Vodafone B2000 , which came on the market in spring 2012. The highlight of B3000 is the support for LTE with up to 150 MBit/s in the downlink and 50 Mbit/s in the uplink (LTE Category 4), in addition, the router can be used for calls via VoIP. The design is largely identical to its predecessor, and also the target group has not changed: Vodafone offers the B3000 primarily business customers.

LTE Category 4 and VoIP
On the back and on the sides of Vodafone B3000, we can find all sorts of connections. The four LAN ports connect to network-enabled devices and two RJ11 connectors allow the connection of analog phones. Furthermore, two USB connections for the integration of a printer or USB storage device available and under a cover there are two connectors for external antennas (type: SMA). For example, the LTE reception quality can be improved by the LTE MIMO antenna . On the front, various LEDs indicate the operating status. The user can see at a glance, for example, the signal strength and network technology here.

The Vodafone B3000 LTE router is manufactured by Huawei and it carries on the model number of Huawei B593s-22. Besides LTE Category 4, the modem allows UMTS including DC-HSPA+ (up to 42.2 Mbit/s) and of course GSM/EDGE. The supported frequency bands include the 800 MHz and 2600 MHz for LTE used by Vodafone, if there are more bands are supported, it is not clear from the documents at our disposal. But we are sure that the original model Huawei B593S-22 would support the LTE FDD 800/900/1800/2100/2600MHz & TDD 2600MHz.

The WLAN module operates at 2.4 GHz and supports up to 32 simultaneously connected Wi-Fi devices. According to the manufacturer Huawei, the power consumption of Vodafone B3000 is under 12 watts.

Price and Availability
According to Vodafone, the B3000 LTE Router available until early April in the Vodafone online shop as well as in retail stores(www.4gltemall.com for unlocked version). However, some traders already now offer the B3000 with prices. But it’s better to get unlocked one before purchasing, the unlocked one would use with any other operators besides Vodafone.
