Technical features

Unfortunately, Samsung has turn a stripped down version of the new S5 brought to Europe: While the Korean original model called “S5 LTE-A” with a Quad HD resolution provided, you have to be satisfied with Full HD (1,080 x 1,920 pixels). The memory is not also 3, but only 2 gigabytes. For the internal memory, it remains a meager 16 GB which can be expanded via micro SD card by a whopping 128 GB, however.

LTE-Advanced

The Samsung Galaxy S5 could support the LTE-Advanced network. With LTE Cat6, up to 300 Mbit/s download speed is possible in the already-developed cities. Samsung’s “download booster” allows for simultaneous data transfer via LTE and Wi-Fi: The booster uses a bundling technology to combine Wi-Fi and LTE together and promises so again much faster data transfers – if that makes any sense. The Galaxy S5 also comes with the version of the Google operating system Android 4.4.4 aka KitKat, which among other things, supporting the upcoming Speech Technology Voice over LTE (VoLTE) with itself.

Technical features

The most striking feature of the new Samsung Galaxy S6 is its design: Samsung uses a metal case, the front and rear is equipped with Corning Gorilla Glass. However, the high-quality materials have a disadvantage: Because the back is not removable, and the battery can not be swapped. In addition, Galaxy S6 is no longer against dust and water resistant.

Samsung Galaxy S6 (12)

Quad HD display and octa-core CPU

The 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display dissolves in QHD to (1,440 x 2,560 pixels), resulting in an unmatched pixel density of 577 ppi. Samsung donated the Galaxy S6 his self-made octa-core processor Exynos 7420. It is composed of two quad-core CPUs, whose four cores clocked at 2.1 or 1.5GHz.The Exynos 7420 is the first mobile 64-bit processor on the market, which was manufactured in 14-nm process.

No SD card slot

Samsung Galaxy S6 has no space for extra memory card: 3GB RAM are available to the user. For the internal memory, the South Koreans will now follow a similar path as Apple: Since no expansion option via Micro-SD card is available, there is three memory variants with 32, 64 or 128 GB for Galaxy S6. And Samsung relies flash memory first on the faster UFS standard.

Samsung Galaxy S6 (9)

LTE-Advanced and WLAN ac

With the support of LTE-Advanced category 6, the Samsung Galaxy S6 is far ahead for mobile data traffic. Speeds of up to 300 Mbit/s in the downlink and 50 Mbit/s in the uplink are possible depending on the provider and tariff. Maximum speed is also available in the WLAN ac that is supported in dual band mode at 2.4 and 5 GHz. In addition, Bluetooth 4.1 is onboard.

Samsung Galaxy S6 (8)

Streamlined TouchWiz interface

The operating system is the latest Android Lollipop 5.0.2 preinstalled, coated with Samsung’s TouchWiz user interface Nature UX. What many purists will be happy: The screens are not cluttered with Samsung’s proprietary, non-erasable Apps. Only S Voice and S Health are preinstalled to Microsoft apps like Skype, OneNote and OneDrive. The users can also download remaining Samsung Apps freely or maybe not.

Samsung Galaxy S6 (3)

Camera with quick start function

The main camera of the Galaxy S6 has a resolution of 16 megapixels and can draw on a F1.9 aperture. The camera features include HDR mode, optical image stabilizer, 4K video recording, selective focus, white balance and slow motion/fast motion. There is also a very nice feature called “Quick Launch”: By double-clicking the Home button in the camera to be ready for less than one second. The front camera for selfies and video chats dissolves with 5 MP.

Samsung Galaxy S6 (10)

New Fingerprint Sensor and Apple Pay

Samsung has improved the fingerprint sensor on Galaxy S6: Now you have no longer wipe previously the home button, but can directly replace the finger to unlock the smartphone. Via finger, a transaction is authorized even with the new payment system “Samsung Pay”; This service, however, is not available for the time being in some areas. In the long term, the payment service is of course the major competitor to “Apple Pay”.

Battery

However, the battery of S6 Samsung has somewhat saved unfortunately compared to Galaxy S5; there are only 2,550 mAh available, also it is firmly installed. There is a rapid charging mode, the back in ten minutes to half fill the battery. Moreover, inductive charging is possible, with all charging stations that support the standards WPC, PMA or Qi.

Samsung Galaxy S6 (11)

Galaxy S6 Edge

In addition to the S6, Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge has also been available at the same time. In this new S6 Edge model, the display goes similar to the latest Galaxy S7 Edge – side over the edge. The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge’s screen is curved on both sides. On the edges, apps or notifications are displayed. What’s more, the S6 Edge is technically larger than Galaxy S6, only the battery is only 2,600 mAh.

Availability

The Samsung Galaxy S6 is available since 10 April at www.4gltemall.com. And it’s in the colors: white, black, gold and blue. Depending on memory (32/64/128 GB), the S6 costs rises accordingly.

Samsung Galaxy S6 (4)

Conclusion

No question, the new Samsung Galaxy S6 is not only technically, but also visually now a fragrance brand in the high-end class in smartphones and is a direct competitor to Apple’s iPhone 6 or HTCs new One M9. Disadvantage is the non-removable battery and the unit is neither dust nor water resistant, and an SD card slot is also missing.

Here now, there are Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge which be on the market soon. We suppose we will see something new for improvements.

Sony Xperia X New Smartphone Review

In addition to the mid-range smartphone Xperia XA, Sony has presented a high-end smartphone at MWC 2016 – the Sony Xperia X. The device is not the successor to the Sony Xperia Z5, but rather be complementary to this. The Xperia X comes with a 5-inch Full HD display and a 23 megapixel camera with predictive hybrid autofocus. Over the wireless network, Xperia X can use LTE-Advanced Cat7, up to 300 Mbit/s in the downlink and up to 100 Mbit/s in the uplink can be achieved. The Xperia X is clear to recognize as a Sony smartphone; the angular design with a flat back and two front speakers are already known by many other Xperia devices. Yet there are some changes in detail: the edges of the display glass are now rounded and the back is down very slightly bent to the sides. In the first test at the exhibition booth of Sony at MWC 2016, the Xperia X was thus somewhat better in the hand than previous Sony smartphones. The two colors Lime Gold and Rose Gold look fresh and were not available so far. Of course there are also the Xperia X classic colors black and white. The highlight of the Sony Xperia X is surely the back camera. This has a resolution of 23 megapixels and has a 1/2.3-inch sensor. The aperture is f2.0, also a wide-angle lens was installed. The predictive hybrid autofocus to ensure particularly fast focusing and thus sharp images. The video resolution seems (1920 x 1080 pixels) to be limited comically on Full HD, contemporary would here 4K/UHD. The camera on the front has a maximum resolution of 13 megapixels and also a wide-angle lens with f2.0, as in the main camera, there is also an image stabilizer ( “SteadyShot with Intelligent Active Mode”).

The internal memory of the Sony Xperia X is in 32 gigabytes, the working memory is 3 gigabytes. The operating system is Android 6.0, of course, with Sony UI. The memory is expandable with a microSDHC card. In the lateral power button, a fingerprint reader is integrated, as you already know it from the Sony Xperia Z5 series forth. The Sony Xperia X is as the sister model Xperia XA and it will soon be available in many countries.  Various online stores are already offering a pre-order such as www.4gltemall.com . Samsung Galaxy S7 New Smartphone Review

The Samsung Galaxy S7 comes in the colors black, white, silver and gold on the market and has a high-quality body made of glass and metal – good conditions for a bestseller. The Galaxy S7 smartphone was presented at the edge of the Mobile World Congress 2016 in Barcelona and features some improvements compared to its predecessor Samsung Galaxy S6. The technology has been brought up to date and also a memory card slot is now available again. This hands-on items with many images should provide a detailed first impression of the new Samsung flagship.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 is, although quite similar to its predecessor, but in detail some important changes have been made that make the device again slightly better in the hand. So the glass on the back to the sides is now clear rounded, the metal frame has become somewhat thinner. The colors look overall very nice, the best impression, however, has left the silver variant in the first Hands-On. This just seems very chic, but also has a major drawback: fingerprints are best visible in the silver version. When at the white and black Galaxy S7, fingerprints are indeed a problem, but here it is still rather limited. A more unusual color such as the bright blue of the Galaxy S6 is no longer available for the S7 unfortunately.

The casing of the Samsung Galaxy S7 is like the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge – waterproof and dustproof. According to Samsung, there is no problem for the smartphone to water up to 30 minutes and the Galaxy S7 is IP68 certified. The connections must not be specially covered to protect them, the device is adequately protected from the inside.

Always-On Display

The display has remained at the same size 5.1 inches, and the resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels (qHD) remains good. In the pixel density of 577 ppi content on the AMOLED display are depicted extremely sharp and vivid colors. The luminosity was the first test well. A new feature of the Samsung Galaxy S7 is the always-on function of the display content, such as the time and upcoming appointments can be displayed even when the display is off.

Improved camera

The camera sits on the Samsung Galaxy S7 again centrally at the back, is now, however, only very slightly out of the phone body, the clearly visible that there is no longer camera bump from Galaxy S6. The camera was not only visually upgraded, technically they can do much more: the look is very bright with F1.7 and the individual pixels to be significantly larger than its predecessor. The resolution is 12 megapixels in 4:3 format is slightly lower than its predecessor. In 16: 9 format are approximately 9 Megapixels. Videos can be recorded with 4K UHD resolution of course as usual.

LTE CAT9 with 450 MBit/s

In addition to a new processor, which is manufactured in the 14nm process, the Samsung Galaxy S7 also has a current LTE modem on board. This speeds up to 450 Mbit/s over the LTE network are possible, provided the network is expanded accordingly and an appropriate tariff is used. In the uplink up to 50 Mbit/s are possible. Samsung Galaxy S7 supports WLAN both the frequency range of 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz (WLAN 802.11ac MIMO).

The RAM is 4 gigabytes in size; the internal memory of the Samsung Galaxy S7 is 32 gigabytes in size, and later to a version appear with 64 gigabytes of internal memory. Unlike the Galaxy S6, a memory expansion with MicroSD memory card is possible with the Galaxy S7, therefore, the memory can be upgraded cost-effectively.

In the first test, the Samsung Galaxy S7 performed well definitely. Unlike the sister model Samsung Galaxy S7 edge, Galaxy S7 has a smaller display screen, but the specifications are largely identical. A real test of the series model now show how long the non-changeable 3,000 mAh battery, and how the device generally performs in daily use.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 is available from 11 March 2016, users will see what’s the real change in the new flagship smartphone. If you prefer larger smartphone, Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge may be a good option. They are both available on www.4gltemall.com at good price for purchase.

Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge New Smartphone Review

The Samsung Galaxy S7 edge is the premium version of Samsung Galaxy S7. The design is largely identical, but the display is slightly larger than the Galaxy S7 and at the sides with 5.5 inches, the display is very rounded, just as you would already know from the previous Samsung Galaxy S6 edge. Also the battery with 3600 mAh is slightly more than the normal Galaxy S7, so that the operating time is likely to be slightly better. In this article, you can see first impressions and some pictures from the Galaxy S7 Edge.

Galaxy S7 Edge Appearance

The Samsung Galaxy 7 edge is very well made like its predecessor. On the front and on the back, glass is used, the frame at the sides consists of metal. This device feels good in his hand. With the large 5.5 inch display, the S7 Edge can’t be operated with one hand, for writing and for quick use you need both hands. In my opinion, the Galaxy S7, not S7 edge, with a smaller display will be better for one hand use, but larger displays are so popular. As we can see, the Galaxy S7 edge is in the color silver, while the fingerprints are highly visible. The chic “emerald green” of Samsung Galaxy S6 edge is no longer available. The Galaxy S7 edge is available in silver, black, white and gold.   The Galaxy S7 edge is protected against water and dust and is IP68 certified, like the predecessor model Samsung Galaxy S5. Unlike this phone, the connectors for headphones and microUSB are however open and are not protected by flaps. The 12 megapixel camera is not as strong as the old model Galaxy S6 edge.

Galaxy S7 Edge Storage and camera

Another new feature concerns the storage equipment compared to the previous. The Galaxy S7 edge has 4 gigabytes of memory and either 32 or 64 gigabytes of internal memory. Furthermore, an extension of the internal memory via MicroSD card is possible, according to Samsung, it could support SD card up to 200 gigabytes. In some regions, there is a hybrid SIM slot where you can insert either two nano SIM card or a SIM card and a memory card. In some areas, the Galaxy S7 edge unfortunately only appears as a single-SIM variant. The camera should have been significantly improved compared to the Galaxy S6 edge again. The aperture of F1.7 promises particularly good photos in low light, so for example at dusk. The resolution is only 12 megapixels for photos. Nevertheless, the picture quality will be better, because the individual pixels are larger. Videos can be further incorporated with 4K resolution.   Compared to the Galaxy S6 edge, the camera of the Galaxy S7 edge stands out barely out of the case, it looks much better.

Availability

The Samsung Galaxy S7 edge will be available from 11 March on www.4gltemall.com. This refers to the version with 32GB of internal memory, when the more expensive version with 64 GB will be offered, is not yet known. The colors you can choose are black, white and gold.

LG G5 New Flagship Smartphone

LG has presented the LG G5 as its new flagship smartphone at MWC 2016. The LG G5 has a body made of metal and two cameras on the back, the display is 5.5 inches in size and offers an always-on function. A special feature is the removable battery, which is now only available in very few smartphones. The replaceable battery is part of the “modular” construction of smartphones, such as additional modules such as an audio module. Before the fair beginning, there was already an opportunity for an extensive “hands-on” the LG G5 Smartphone, in this article, you can see a lot of pictures and a first impression of the device.

The LG G5 comes in four colors Silver, Titanium, Gold and Pink on the market. The body is made of metal, the predecessor LG G4 had a plastic or leather back. However, the reverse is not completely smooth, but is slightly higher in the upper half in the camera. Also, the fingerprint sensor, which is located under the cameras on the back, protrudes a few millimeters from the body. Overall, the LG G5 is very good in the hand and makes a high-quality impression. The glass of the display is rounded by the sides. The appearance is much better than what you can imagine.

A special feature is the removable battery, this jumps out of a button, together with its bracket from the chassis. This mechanism made a stable and high-quality impression with a first test. The battery capacity is 2800 mAh and can be extended a total of 4,000 mAh using the camera handle. The Camera Grip is available separately and also has some buttons integrated that facilitate the operation of the camera with one hand.

Two cameras on the back

The LG G5 is equipped with a so-called dual-camera, so it has two cameras on the back. The first camera takes photos with a resolution of up to 16 megapixels, the second camera can record up to 8 megapixels. The lenses have a 135 degree angle of view and take photographs so that a particularly large viewing angle compared to other phones.

Always-On Display

The display of the LG G5 has a diagonal of 5.3 inches and has a QHD resolution (2560 x 1440 pixels). The upper third of the display has a so-called always-on function, the display can thus be permanently illuminated, to display information such as time or notifications. The Always-On function need only about 0.8 percent of the battery capacity per hour, according to LG, it is thus quite economical. Overall, the display has a good first impression, it is sharp and very perspective stable.

The LG G5 is one of the first smartphones with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset. This has not only integrated a very fast processor, but also the new Snapdragon X12 LTE modem. So user can be provided up to 600 Mbit/s in the downlink and up to 150 Mbit/s surf the uplink via LTE with a suitable tariff and an appropriately equipped mobile network.

The memory of the LG G5 is 4 gigabytes in size, the internal user memory 32GB. The internal memory can be expanded with a MicroSD card, theoretically up to 2 terabytes are possible. A connector for charging and data cable USB-C is used.

Huawei Mate S 4G LTE Smartphone Review

Huawei was previously known primarily as a manufacturer of cheap Android smartphones, routers, surf sticks and other network equipment. By Mate S, the manufacturer would now definitely in the premium smartphone segment. A high-quality metal case, a very good quality and innovative software features to the customer to purchase more.

High-quality metal body

Huawei provides the Mate S in the colors gray and champagne and delivers it in a high-quality acting cardboard box. The package includes a protective case, a power supply, a USB charging cable and a headset. The case protects the device very well and allowed the display of information through a small window with the front closed. Huawei did everything right for the body: It not only looks extremely good, it feels also very well and leaves a very high-quality impression. The entire back is made of metal, at the sides, the device is flat, so it is still neatly in your hand in spite of its enormous size. The entire front is covered with a laterally rounded glass, particularly in the use of swipe gestures is very pleasant. Next to the 13-megapixel camera, a fingerprint reader can be found, which is truly outstanding: The detection rate is very good and you can also use the sensor for gesture control to approximately scroll through galleries.

Fast processor and good LTE Modem

The Huawei Mate S we tested is a single-SIM version with combined MicroSD slot, the integrated memory of 32 GB and can therefore be expanded with a memory card. In other markets, there is also a dual-SIM version of the Huawei Mate S. The single-SIM version must be equipped with a nano-SIM card. The modem achieved up to 150 Mbit/s on LTE network, but may in the settings ” Carrier Aggregation “so LTE Advanced CAT6, are activated. This speeds up to 300 megabits per second in the downlink and 50 Mbit/s in the uplink are then possible with the Huawei Mate S. Of course, UMTS with up to 42.2 Mbit/s and GSM are supported together with EDGE. A bit of a shame: The Huawei Mate S can only use the 2.4 GHz frequency range at in the current WLAN standard AC, 5GHz is not supported. Given the high price that is incomprehensible, because other manufacturers already obstruct significantly cheaper smartphones with dual-band WLAN.

The processor in Mate S comes from Huawei subsidiary HiSilicon and has eight cores, each with up to 2.2 GHz clock rate. Along with the Android operating system and the user interface EMUI, the unit was very quick in the test and allowed a smooth operation. A special feature is the absence of a separate app menu, all apps are right on the home screens, so as it is known, for example from the Apple iPhone. For many users, this is certainly a good thing, since it facilitates the operation. Of course you can also install another launcher on the Google Play Store, so that again a separate app menu is available.

Camera with good night mode

The Huawei Mate S has two cameras, one with 13 megapixels on the back and an 8-megapixel on the front. The back camera has an optical image stabilizer, a two-color LED flash and has an aperture of f2.0. The photos were sharp and true color included in the test, particularly convinced night mode with which even in twilight very useful pictures can still be taken. Videos can record Full HD resolution, but Huawei waived 4K video.

Screen with “Knuckle Sense”

The AMOLED display of Huawei Mate S is 5.5 inches tall, has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and leaves a very good impression. In order to stand out from the competition, Huawei Mate S uses some software functions to improve the display. The so-called “Knuckle Sense” function allows you to take screenshots or the launch of Apps means knuckles. That works but not always reliable, sometimes the unit does not recognize the ankle and not performs the desired function. Another interesting feature is “Force touch”. Thus, the display should also recognize the pressure with which you press on the screen – something like the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus the 3D Touch technology. Unfortunately Force Touch is installed only in a premium version of Mate S, which is only available at some markets. The function would certainly have been interesting!

Conclusion: High-quality smartphone from Huawei

When Huawei Mate S is a premium smartphone – at least if you look at design, workmanship, materials and price. The technology is high, and LTE modem and processor is convincing with great photos and the speed. But there are also some negative points: WLAN missing in the 5 GHz range and the Knuckle Sense technology, for the operation of the display with the knuckles, does not seem mature. The Huawei Mate S is now available at www.4gltemall.com stores and mobile operators. If you like it, you can buy it.

Huawei Mate 8 VS Huawei Mate S 4G Smartphones

Huawei has introduced very interesting smartphone: the Mate S and Mate 8 in recent months. The Chinese producer Huawei went up to the third-largest smartphone seller in the German market in 2015 and the Mate 8 and Mate S would like to improve on this position. While the Mate S was presented at IFA in Berlin and a short time later went on sale; the Mate 8 has been presented only to CES in early 2016. The two mobile phones are technically and optically very similar at first glance, but take a closer look at the technical and visual details, there are much difference.

The Huawei Mate S distinguishes very little visually from Huawei Mate 8: The front is dominated by a huge screen and each very narrow margins, hardware keys do not exist. The display of Mate S measures 5.5 inches, which is slightly smaller than that of Mate 8, which measures 6 inches. Even if the difference in the data sheet appears small: at the latest when you have the mate S and 8 in the hand and compares, you will notice the difference in size significantly. The Mate 8 is bulky, but one hand can hand it, so you should not be regarded it as negative point.

The processing of both the Mate 8 as well as the Mate S is almost perfectly. The Mate S here nonetheless wins the comparison, because the back has two thin antenna strip of metal, while in Mate 8 has only a piece of plastic cover for the antennas used. The Mate 8 falls on the circular fingerprint scanner and the circular camera mount, while the Mate S has both built in classic rectangular design. Both Huawei Mate S and the Huawei Mate 8 have two colors: gray and white.

Basically, both the Huawei Mate S and the Huawei Mate 8 are a very good technical equipment, which is classified in the upper class. Let’s start with the display: the resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels in common, but the display technology is different: the Mate S uses an AMOLED panel while the Mate 8 uses an IPS panel. Colors, brightness and sharpness are excellent for both devices.
The internal memory is 32 gigabytes in size in each case and can be expanded via MicroSD memory card up to 128 GB. In addition, for Huawei Mate 8, there is still the possibility to take a second nano-SIM card instead of a mocro-SD card, so is it the ideal dual SIM smartphone. The simultaneous use of MicroSD card and dual SIM is not possible. Regarding the processor, the two devices differ only slightly, at least no difference in the speed. Nevertheless, the Huawei Mate 8 with the HiSilicon Kirin 950 is the significantly latest octa-core processor (Mate S: Kirin 935). Both devices come with 3 gigabytes of RAM and a very good fingerprint sensor.

Other differences are there between the radio links, here the Huawei Mate is 8 is clearly more superior than the Huawei Mate S: the Mate 8 has not only the aforementioned dual-SIM function, but also the LTE modem is significantly faster (LTE Cat6 instead LTE Cat4, ie up to 300 MBit/s instead of just up to 150 Mbit/s downstream). In addition, the Mate 8 the near-field wireless NFC, the Mate S has not. Even when the wireless topic Mate 8 has one step ahead: it supports Dual Band WLAN 802.11a/b/g/n/ac on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, while the Mate S only WLAN 802.11b/g/n supports 2.4 GHz.

The back camera of Mate S and Mate 8 has an optical image stabilizer (OIS) and a dual-LED flash. The Mate 8 can create photos with up to 16 megapixel resolution (4: 3 format) that Mate S can accommodate up to 13 megapixels. For videos, both devices are limited to Full HD.

The Huawei Mate 8 is already with the latest Android 6.0 operating system and making it more up to date than the Mate S, which currently runs on Android 5.1.1. Serious differences do not exist, both units are very fast and the functions differ only in details. Both devices have pre-installed the user interface EMUI that Mate 8 a slightly newer version. EMUI reminiscent of the appearance and operation of the forth something to Apple iOS and is very easy to use.

An important point must not be missed when comparing two smartphones: the battery. While the Huawei Mate S comes with a 2,700 mAh strong battery, only slightly thicker and heavier, Huawei Mate 8 has a 4,000 mAh strong battery on board. not be missed: The batteries are not changeable for the two devices, when Mate 8 has a fast-charging adapter included, which fully charges the device within approximately 2.5 hours.
During daily use, the higher capacity of the battery makes the Huawei Mate 8 clearly noticeable: while the Mate S just allow one day at normal use, two days at normal use are possible on Mate 8 easily. The Huawei Mate 8 is, like its predecessor Huawei Mate 7, a real endurance runner and currently certainly one of the smartphone with the best battery performance.

We can see Huawei Mate 8 dominates in many aspects, however, it must be noted that the Mate 8 is just appeared, while the S Mate is on the market for several months. After all Huawei Mate 8 is the latest new flagship for Huawei. The Huawei Mate S is currently cheaper than Mate 8 without a contract.  If you need a budget good smartphone, Huawie Mate S may be a good option.
